try making an invisible sqare covering the whole screen with KLWP and make it open the app drawer so when you click in an empty area on the homescreen the app drawer opens
if you do so, get rid of the app drawer shortcut in the dock and make its horizontal grid 4

Depends on your launcher, but you should be able to go to your launcher settings, and go to "desktop". There, there should be an option to remove it. Thats how it is on Nova anyway. Can't imagine any other would be much different
