Ghosting is the term for copying an entire hard drive as it is to another drive, like when you upgrade the drive or replace a failing drive and you don't want or need to do a full reformat. There are plenty of tools to do it on Windows, dd works perfect on Linux.

Copy/Ghost/Clone are all used interchangeably. Ghost is a winfag term (aka Norton Ghost) not a Linux term.

alright, did some googling.
clone - exact copy including the MBR. just swap out the HDD with the clone and you should be set.
image - a backup of files, usually compressed.
ghost - same as clone. there was a popular cloning program called ghost, people started to use the term interchangeably.

alright, "Clonezilla" seems to be a good free one.
