Anyways. I am having trouble with my desktop computer. The cpu fan and chassis fan have recently began to spin extremely fast, with no clear reasoning as to why. I think it is a problem with the mother board, as it starts spinning fast every boot despite changing the settings to not spin so fast. Trying to adjust with speed fan, or Asus suite 3 does no good. What can I do to fix this? The motherboard model is an h 81 M-K
A friend of mine droped water in my wireless router. After drying it, it works, but the wifi signal is extremely weak.
Can somebody explain this?
Can i fix it or should i buy another router?

How is a VPN supposed to make anyone anonymous?
I mean, say your IP is 1.1.1.1 and your VPN's IP is 2.2.2.2.
Now, you connect to Google, so the traffic looks like this [You(1.1.1.1)]-->2.2.2.2-->Google
Now, of course Google only sees a connection from 2.2.2.2, BUT I can't imagine how the ISP can't easily put the pieces of the puzzle back together.
I.e. "around ~12:30 PM on 1/1/16 the suspect visited website.com. Sadly, we only know that the IP is 2.2.2.2 which is a Ukrainian datacenter. But on the other hand, the IP 1.1.1.1 was connecting to 2.2.2.2 exactly 10 milliseconds before the other connection."
Seems pretty easy to trace people back tbqh or am I missing something?

Shit cartoon
>>54321437
All traffic goes through the VPN before it goes to the internet. While the ISP could see you connecting to the VPN, they have no way of telling what you did afterwards, which means just because 2.2.2.2 connected to google 10 ms after you connected to 2.2.2.2, they can't be 100% sure it was you. It wouldn't hold up in a court of law.
That is, unless the VPN gives the ISP, law enforcment etc, the information, Use a VPN that claims to store no data about its users.
>>54321464
It's 4 Ohm rated at 100W RMS so it's not the speaker that's distorting. It's the amp or the bluetooth module, I assume I'll have to do some electronic fuckery to reduce the amount of electrical noise relative to the audio signal, no idea how to do that though.
>>54321437
The ISP doesn't know that 2.2.2.2 went to google.com. All they see is 1.1.1.1 connecting to 2.2.2.2. Now if Google was working with the ISP (or there was an organization that made submitting logs mandatory by both the ISP and google) they would be able to conclude that "user x connected through so-and-so ISP with IP address 1.1.1.1 to 2.2.2.2 and a few ms later google.com got an incoming connection from 2.2.2.2, therefore 1.1.1.1 must be the user who connected to google.com at time HH:mm and searched for ``rainbow dash porn'' ".
>>54321437
I would guess if it's a private (only used by you) IP, your connection could indeed be traced back under the assumption that both the website you visited and your ISP complies to give out information.
So let's assume this is the case:
You visited trannyporn.com using the VPN 2.2.2.2. Tranny porn complies with whatever agency and gives the IP 2.2.2.2.
Mind you, there are multiple ISPs and you can't even know which COUNTRY the one who connected to 2.2.2.2 came from. So you either
>a) have to get some kind of foreign law cooperation bullshit to get the information who connected to 2.2.2.2 from the local ISP in this country
>or b) just ASSUME the suspect came from your country and ask ALL ISPs to supply records from that time to find the one which connected to 2.2.2.2
Then, they MIGHT be able to trace back the connection, assuming all the records still exist AND you are literally the only one who ever connected to the server. Because the actual traffic is encrypted, they don't know what you requested.
What if you just visited google through the VPN at that time and someone else (who connected to the VPN 2 days ago) didn't place a timed command on the server to "wait 2 days, then visit trannyporn.com".
Now you realize that this is A LOT of effort and definitely not the way to go to break VPN traffic.
It's probably much easier to
>decrypt traffic through backdoors/faulty crypto implementation
>get the logs from the VPN provider itself granted it collects log files (so this is essentially a trust part - some providers say the don't log, but how can you be sure they don't REALLY do? Or that they actually don't want to log, but they're retards and forgot to turn off a relevant setting?)

>>54324805
A CPU is very unlikely to fail if you overclock the right way as in don't push it to some retarded amount and set it on fire, You don't want it at the absolute fastest it can get but a bit below that for better stability. on how fast it will go depends on the CPU you have, every single one is a bit different in quality and some may get faster oc speeds then others even if they are both the same product, your cooler is going to fail first so just get one with a 5 year warranty and replace it before then.

the specific policy is ebay's money back guarantee.

Tell the guy that he sent you the wrong item which is unacceptable and you will have to go to ebay if he refuses since it's against their policy to send a wrong item then refuse returns, I guarantee ebay will side with you 100% on something like this. Dual-graphics wasn't started until the 6000 series so your 4850 would not work.
According to https://www.amd.com/en-us/innovations/software-technologies/dual-graphics
you would be best pairing your APU with an R7 250.
As someone who fell for dual graphics in the past (A8-3870K + 6670) its pretty much useless. Trying to updae drivers was annoying and there was little to no performance increase.

>does that need more power
technically speaking, of course it will consume more (like 2 - 4 Watt), but the answer is no. It's not enough to justify upgrading your PSU
>There a thing on my desktop box that says expansion bay, I assume that's where I should put it.
probably not. Open your case, check where your HDD is currently and if there is another slot for it. If not check what is this expansion bay about.
Gonna build a new pc for gaming and stream
Should I go i7 4790 and a H97 board or take the jump to skykek with a i7-6700k and a Z170 ?
Gonna be paired with a 980ti
I've got my pc connected to my router via ethernet but I keep getting unidentified network, any Idea what could be causing this?

C and/or C++ if you want to use GTK+
C++ if you want to use qt.
Both are okay if you want to do cli stuff
>>54330044
5-10 watts for a 3.5" HDD is more realistic, with up to 20 during spinup

>streaming
Get a dedicated recording card.
>>54330077
a 1TB caviar blue is ~6.1W idle and 6.7W in use
>>54330063
there is no need for network names on a basic router using no wifi.

Are you using a H97 board with a slower CPU currently? Not sure why else you would consider getting a locked mobo/cpu. At this point the prices for skylake have come down enough that you might as well go with it.
>>54330137
You'd be looking at an additional $1000-$1500 investment to go to two PC capture card setup, I wouldn't recommend it unless you've already established a good audience streaming.
>>54330149
anything that starts with m
>>54330234
Um nope.
A dedicated card is only about the same as a gfx card.
We arent fucking talking about a tv station.
Fucks sake
>>54330263
Guess I'll go with mpv
>>54330147
Okay, thanks for the help
>>54330234
Currently with a FX 6300 and a am3+ mobo
Might take the jump to skykek
I'm going to have two internal HDD each with a copy of W7 installed on them. Since there's two OS can I copy files between them like normal through windows explorer?
Let's say I boot into one of them, will the other drive appear and can I access it just like I had two partitions, or is it going to be more complicated?
>>54330263
I'm not talking about the card itself, f you're not spending at least $800 on a dedicated streaming PC you're wasting your time.
>>54330366
You can copy files between them like normal
>>54330368
Again this isnt ESPN level production
Dude wants to stream and not have shitty bitrate and lag. Get a dedicated card (200-400) and be done with it
Just got a new ssd. just waiting on the tray to put in in my thinkpad. Anyway. It will be my second hd on this laptop. If I have windows on the other and install linux on the other. will there be any grub issues ?
Wiindows on first drive then linux installed on second. it will work the same as one HD correct?
safest/easiest way to download HBO shows like GoT or Silicon Valley?
>inb4 HBO Go
Last time I downloaded a season of GoT I got a DMCA notice within a week.
>I did download episode one last sunday and haven't gotten a notice yet.
Right now I'm just using a MAC address randomizer so when they send a letter saying "a device with the MAC address XX:XX:XX... was recorded to have download copyright protected blah blah blah", no device in the house will actually match that MAC.
If they ask I'll can just say something like, "oh yeah, I think that may have been one of the neighbors I gave my password to."
any other options that I don't have to pay for? Seedbox? VPN?
A guy I don't like at all is infatuated with me. wat do?
>>54330700
Torrents or Kodi. Kodi is awesome. I haven't messed with much HD on there though. but it has everything. repo wise. I am sitll a noob with it but it literally has everything. Had last weeks GoT very quick after it aired
>>54330700
Get a VPN. Your idea with MAC is nice, except that they don't give a damn. If it's your network it's your responsibility.
>>54330758
any recommended free/affordable + good VPN solutions?
>>54330700
>mac
You are still responsible for your network.
Who do you think gets the bill when you hop on public wifi networks and dl shit.
You cant claim ignorance.
>>54330816
I have never had any trouble as a Belgian, so no. Free VPNs are not advised as they are slow and/or not safe.
I'm sure that you'll find great information on Google.

you can use deja-dup to backup the whole machine. But I don't know of another way.
Where can I find a script to run all new tweets on a list of twitter accounts through archive.is to save them?
I'd write a shell script to do it myself, but I usually make inefficient garbage.

When we will see cheaper SSDs?
120GB is already $42 for a decent one, when we will see them around $30?
Anyone know a good non-trash am3+ motherboard?
It is going to be used as a server so it will be on 24/7.
>>54331506

Don't spend too much on it. You'll abandon it when no one plays on your servers.
There's a yellow line going down my laptop screen. How do i fix it? I can't watch anime like this
