It was either MS-DOS or Windows 3.1. I can't remember, I was like 2 or 3 at the time. What OS did Commander Keen run on, because there are photos of me playing that when I was 2 or 3.
Technically it was an 8bit Atari but I would only type in BASIC programs from the spiral notebook that came with it. I really didn't get into computers until I got a 486 with DOS6.2 and Windows 3.1. It wasn't long after that I got internet that came with a SunOS shell account. I mainly used theUnix shell after that.

My experience exactly. I also played Assassin on local BBSs with a 9600baud modem on a 80/86. IIRC it was a Cyrix processor, but I may be confused and that was another machine I used shortly thereafter at my uncle's house.
Didn't use Windows 3.1 til the family computer (Packard Bell w/Pentium 60) came with it.

We were placed in advanced track program taught by a teacher with a doctorate in education and computer science. learned programming and reading at the same time. wish they hadn't shit canned tracking to keep it "fair". later on they integrated "creative" kids into the program and it became more liberal arts and anthropology oriented under a new administration- was still an excellent general education from a public school

You kids dont kbow the pain of 5 1/4 boot floppys.
>>54248168
The 5 1/4 floppies were better than the 3.5 inch ones. Less prone to errors. If there was an error, you reformat and have a good chance of reusing the disk again.
>>54248398
I meant more the fact that you had a pile of drives you had to switch out to boot, run programs, and manage disks. When i got my kaypro 2 with 2 built in drives it was so cool. Finally i could have a program disk and a storage disk separate. And i could run disk managing on a disk from a standalone disk manager floppy
