Also not entirely true. My friend has beaten me with his $2 deck against my $400 deck. There are plenty of cheap decks that are good, but obviously is varies between formats.
I stopped playing magic when my friends started getting overly competitive blue decks and turn rotations would last like 10 minutes. Shit got way to boring.

What he was saying is, that everyone has the same chance in the beginning, since the stuff is random at first, without favoring any player. Also alot of people refer to "booster drafting" when they say drafting, which is why he said "common shit" probably.
