Been on T-Mobile for about a year.
Switched to their 4 line 10gb per line plan.
It's alright. Speeds at my house are similar to Verizon's. I get anywhere from 1mb to 25mb down and 500kb to 15mb up. It varies.

Calls are good. Use hotspot to watch Jewtube or netflix. I'm already maxed out on the data stash.

It's true though when you leave a city the data drops to 3g or edge.

I go to Tijuana a couple of times a year and the data works sometimes. It works enough to watch Netflix, make calls, and check email or 4chan.
>>

> Going with a major cellular provider

Full retard. Unless you are currently financing your phone through Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, or Sprint, or are locked into some sort of family plan, there is literally no reason to not go with an MVNO instead.

If you have a Verizon phone, check out Selectel or Page Plus

If you have a T-Mobile phone, check out Ultra Mobile (if you want dirt cheap calling they have a $20 unlimited talk/text/100MB of 4G data plan with free international calling) or Simple Mobile if you need a shitload of data ($55 gets you 10GB of 4G LTE, $60 gets you unlimited), or MetroPCS if you use a lot of data and don't want to pay for it (once you run out of 4G data they only drop you down to HSPA+ instead of 2G like most other carriers).

Your monthly bill will be lower, and you won't be locked into a contract. There is no reason to pay any more than you have to.
>>

Boost, 60/mo, unlimited everything.
LG Volt 2, I go cheap with phones because of the likelihood of them breaking.
Protip: remove ItsOn.apk from /carrier/ and /system/apps/ if Wifi Tether Router stops working after 10 minutes at a time. Shit just turns your wifi on and off even if you have wifi scanning disabled in system settings.
Pic related, the spike is where I got that shit working, and used 40 gigs in about ten days. Average about 2MB/s down, slows down a bit during "peak usage" (usually primetime and weekends) but I assume that's network congestion. No throttling so far. Swapped from Virgin Mobile where I paid 40/mo for 4 gigs of data where I got throttled to almost dialup speeds after.

Fucking pleb, DNA is a cable company with shitty Internet peering. It's only good for cable TV (and I'm not sure if Digita is better or worse in that regard).

Should have at least picked Elisa (Saunalahti) or TeliaSonera (not TeleFinland though).

Answering to myself about DNA vs Digita, I'll probably side with DNA on this for broadcasting national Yle TV HD-channels while Digita refused.

Still, DNA has refused to fix their (Internet) backbone issues for more than few years. Oulu-Oulu connections going through Oulu-Helsinki-Oulu? LOL.

I'm >>54098834. There is no "ISP monopoly" in Finland. You have TeliaSonera Finland, Elisa and DNA in most regions and some smaller ISPs such as Netplaza, Nebula and FNE-Finland regionally.

Sure, the government (FICORA) has obligated one or two ISPs to build a network to peripheries so your choices may be fewer.

FNE-Finland actually consists of multiple municipality ISPs, and can't compete with the "big three". Netplaza is available in Helsinki and Oulu, but they're practically reselling TeliaSonera because of transit routes (and have downstream ISPs deeper in the reseller chain such as OLKA). Nebula gets their transit from TeliaSonera and Level 3 too (and they like to send newsletter spam to customers).

Because DNA is a cable company and not an "ISP" per se, it can't compete (or has failed to compete) with other ISPs. They get their transit for cheap using providers like Cogent and refuse to peer with TeliaSonera, for example. Overall bad network performance is the result.

AS1759 TeliaSonera Finland extends to AS1299 TeliaSonera AB (TeliaSonera International Carrier), a tier 1 ISP. Cross-country it's the best ISP you can get with its peering capabilities (1,228 peers and counting).

AS6667 Elisa Oyj is also pretty good (excluding the cable Internet), but can't compete with TeliaSonera at the size.

Conclusion: Based on bgp.he.net data and years of personal experience, TeliaSonera and Elisa are the only good ISPs available in Finland. That's not "monopoly".
>>
>>54099067
I've also used Funet and it's quite awful for its unintended purpose: general Internet use. It's only so good for connecting universities.

Bandwidth caps, MAC whitelist to access network and +20 ms pings for generic use are not fun. (You can still spoof the MAC address to use it or run a DHCP daemon towards the network to break it.)

Not that guy but, it's pretty shameful that you can't even follow I-40 all the way from coast to coast without having 10+ hours of no signal in the western portion. They need to get their priorities straight. My boyfriend managed to drive all the way up here (New York) from New Mexico on AT&T's network and the call/navigation only dropped once going through Tucumcari (Because it was roaming, which Sprint cannot do because no one uses PCS on CDMA).

I used to work for ATT mobile customer service.

The data rolls over but also expires.

Say you're on a 10gb plan. You use 8gb's. You have 2 left over. Next month you have 12gb's.

Of the 12gb's say you only use 1gb's for the whole months leaving you 11. You'd expect 21gb's of data next month yeah? Fucking wrong, the 1gb leftover "expires" and so you have 20gb's.

It's an arbitrary and confusing roller coaster of "give us money" anon.

Also I'm on Cricket's 2.5gb plan which lasts me 2-3 weeks. Prolly switch to 5gb's soon. I'm not a "cell phone" kinda guy I just like to stream music and shit.

Fucking samefag shill, I see you uploading that same damn picture everytime someone mentions ISPs. Sprint/Boost coverage is shit in most places in the country that are not certain specific metro areas and even there coverage can vary widely and specially with CDMA coverage is generally shit, also you need to buy the phone directly from the provider at highly inflated prices.
>>
>>54102006
I only made 4 of those posts, calm down you sperg. The last thing sprint would want is to shill their cheaper mvno.

Yeah coverage can be spotty but it's still a great mvno especially if you like using data abd have sprint coverage. Their phones are cheap as dirt on amazon, fuck you talking about?

You think sprint benefits from basement dweller suddenly hopping on their cheap mvno and downloading 1tb+ worth of chinese cartoons? What will happen is sprint will panic and either completely remove the unlimited high speed data plan on boost or raise the price for it.
>>
>>54102006
>shill
nigga sprint fucking hates these people. Normally they charge $75/month for their unlimited lte plan. Boost mobile is just a mnvo they have to sell unused network load. They expect only poorfags to use boost's $30 base plan since sprint plans are normally too expensive for them. They don't expect a bunch of neets to jump on their unlimited plan and download/stream shit day and night. This is bad for buisness to sprint and will eventually lead them to remove the unlimited plan from boost.

Nah, the commercials are aimed at niggers and mexicans but smart people end up using them. You save a fuckton of money with an MVNO.

The niggers and mexicans end up getting an MNO with a contract to get a flagship phone for "free" or pay it little by little every month. They end up paying like $70+ a month.

How do I know this? Because the neighborhood I live in has both and most of them either have the newest iPhone or Samsung phones. Yet here I am with my moto e paying $30 a month for my phone bill and saving up in financial reserves in case something bad happens.

I'm starting to believe that poor people remain poor because they want to look rich.

You can but wifi tethering is capped at 8GB for the unlimited plan I mentioned. Some people have been able to bypass this but I understand it's against ToS.

Sprint network speeds depend on coverage and network load, expect 4-6mbps for lte zones and 20+mbps for enhanced lte zones on average. If your phone has 2GB of RAM you can browse the desktop version of youtube and netflix/crunchyroll on your phone btw.
