I need top tier 650-850 watt PSU. I got a budget of around 100-150.

corsair

whatever you can find a good deal on which is also tier 1/2
>>
Forgot to state that modularity and long warranty is preferred.

>>54074757
Super Flower Leadex, Evga G2, Corsair RMx and Cooler Master V750 seem to be closest hits on that list for me. Any advice which to choose/drop from the list?
>>
>>54074881
Evga is shit. Not 100% Japanese caps. Leadex gold is same. Cooler master has shorter warranty than Corsair. The answer is obvious.
>>
>>54074756
This, I recommend CX series, especially efficient under load
>>
>>54074740
Not OP, but I fucking love FSP. Do they actually have an online retail store/presence? Last time I checked they didn't.

EVGA G2 and P2 are made by Superflower, 100% japanese capacitors and 10 year warranty

Superflower as a company is underrated though

Cooler Master V series. V650/V750 are usually around $130-$150. They're gold certified, fully modular (I think under 750w is sem-modular) and they're some of the most highly rated power supplies. Pic related.
>>
>>54075594
That list has false information and a meme backing
>>
>>54075442
G2 is not pure 100% jap caps. Same with leadex gold. You have to go full platinum and you get Corsair for cheaper. Corsair changed their 7 year warranty to 10 recently.

I got myself a SeaSonic X850 for under $140 on sale a few months back. They seem to go on sale pretty often. Dead silent 99% of the time, too. Has a fanless operation mode.

tl;dr: Let's see if we can sum up the build quality, load testing results, transient load testing results, DC output quality, and noise profile of the Seasonic X-850 in 6 words:
Excellent

Almost Excellent
Excellent

as are you. Stop spreading BS. You're part of the problem.
>>
EVGA G2 or P2 are the best that money can buy, much better than any corshit or poo master has to offer.
>>
>>54075716
At least my psu won't catch fier plebbet.
>>
>>54075755
There's capxon caps in tier1
>>
>>54075380

CX series is lower than bottom of the barrel in terms of reliability. I've personally had 3 CX series PSUs fail. A 430w, 500w, and 750w. All were under than less than 50% load. Absolute garbage.
>>
>>54075768
I know and it was a stupid joke, but obvious
>>
>>54075766
it even says in the top not to trust this 100%. I own a V series and it has never failed me with even 99% load. I've pulled 950w out of my 1kw V1000 with zero issues. No coil whine and has been going for for a while now.

The guide isn't perfect but helps. I.e. AX series PSUs from Corsair are a HUGE step up over something from Logicsys

>>
Sup /g/, I suppose this is the PSU thread so...

Ended up getting this baby: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 220-GS-0650-V1 80 PLUS GOLD 650 W

did i do good?
>>
>>54074699

seasonic 660xp2, I only paid 100 dollars for mine.
>>
>>54075807
Wtf is this shilling? Never asked for this
>>
>>54074699
Have a look at the 650 or 850W Corsair RMi PSUs. Make sure to look at RMi though, the original RM series aren't that brilliant and you can definitely get something better.
>>
fucking hell
you autismos are gonna argue about fucking psus now? just get whatever is cheaper idiots
>>
>>54075868
but anon, it's the most important part! if psu dies, other stuff dies!
>>
>>54075858
shilling for who exactly? I mentioned 3 companies. Stop being a retard.
>>
I use a Corsair RM650i. Modular, in the price range, been working well for around 8 months now. Haven't had any problems with it.
>>
>>54075868
this
some chink 700watts i bought for my nas is still working 5 years straight 24/7. just vacumm it once a month for dust.
>>
>>54075894
And I'm only saying that a list with a capxon cap PSU in tier 1 is a meme list
>>
Seasonic gold for nippon caps and sanyo fans most are just re branded shit might as well go to the source.
>>
>>54075868
>>54075911
you're both idiots. Garbage tier PSUs are literally housefire threats.

I had a "1000 watgt" PSU from a no name Chinese company that shit the bed and was INSANELY hot after trying to draw more than 400w.

I'm not saying you HAVE to buy the $220 "Platinum certified" PSU, but buying the cheapest is asking for trouble.
>>
>>54075868
Yeah why not jus skip the PSU and plug the mobo directly to the wall
>>
EVGA G2 750W. It's the best 750W PSU on the market and has a fantastic warranty and great customer service.
>>
I'm not saying to get literal wooden chinese psus, but get a actual brand gpu for cheap
If your psus short that often you should consider moving from your shithole home

>>54075845
>EVGA SuperNOVA GS 220-GS-0650-V1 80 PLUS GOLD 650 W

Anything /g/, not samefag? Thinking about buying too.
>>
>>54076044
Damm son I hope you did not think about over clocking two gpus on one 850 power supply especially if they ar amd cards.
>>
>>54076067

Go for any G2 or P2 version.

B2 are good too if you're on a budget
>>
>>54076087
I've got 2 (lightly) OC'd 290Xs and a 4.8GHz 4790K, they pull ~700-750W in-game with GPUs at 100% load. It can definitely be done on a 850W PSU.
>>
>>54076256
If you say so m8, I have not run such a high end system but depending on the power supply getting at that load it might not survive.
>>
>>54076329
It will survive just fine if a good PSU. If it's chink shit with imaginary power output capabilities on the box then sure, it may burst into flame way before that kind of power draw. I had a Corsair TX850M with this system for years until the 3.3V rail started to sag.
>>
>>54075868
Yeah nah fuck off. Used some cheapo Chinese psu that came with my case once and that fucker got loud and started making scary noises within a couple months.

You don't have to get top tier platinum psu but you get what you pay for. Electricity isn't something I'd recommend fucking with.
>>
>>54074740
The shit that comes in shiet tier packard bell prebuilds is actually good?
>>
>>54076598
FSP is pretty decent. I've had one of their 750W models for ~5 years on high-end dual-GPU, OC'd systems until it died. It died gracefully, simply didn't turn on one day. No damage to any other components.
>>
Recently got a HX850i and a RM1000i. The RM series actually does better than the HX in some tests despite being a lower 80+ rating.
>>
i dont really care
>>
>>54076766
RMi series is really great. The 80+ rating is only about efficiency, not about other things. Since they're rated for lower efficiency they could probably improve other things while not ending up with a more expensive product than the HXi line.
>>
>>54076598
they are legit good, there were tests of PSUs and FPSs never failed and no bullshit numbers, if it says 500 it will handle 500 and not blow up at 450 like some other crap (many PSUs couldn't handle their declared max power)
at least retail models, oem might be worse cause maximum cheap
>>
>>54076256
>they pull ~700-750W in-game with GPUs at 100% load
what are you using to measure if you dont mind my asking.
>>
>>54077060
Corsair Link on my RM1000i.
>>
Silverstones 80% platinum certified psus. Are godtier, shits on any other psus handsdown
>>
>>54077295
I wonder if it's accounting for it's own inefficiency

700-750w draw on the PSU would be ~770-825w from the wall depending on the 80+ rating.

I have a UPS battery backup unit that tracks load so I monitor mine that way. Thought about getting one of those Corsair PSUs though.
>>
>>54077316
I just bought a 600w SilverStone Titanium unit. I hope it's as good as their platinum units.

That's pretty cool, mine has a readout on the front of the UPS, as well as a basic software interface that you can monitor input voltage, load, etc.
>>
Check which brand has the most top rated reviews, filter out the latest released models by those brands - read the labels.. and pick based on what fits best your needs.
>>
When it comes to power supplies the #1 rule is to avoid Corsair. Their units are garbage.

EVGA, Antec and XFX are all good because they rebrand Seasonic units.

Above all else, look up the unit you want to buy on Jonnyguru.
>>
>>54077474
I have a UPS too, but I'm only using it for my server and networking equipment. I didn't want to shell out for a UPS big enough to push out 1KW+ for a decent period of time for my desktop and peripherals.
>>
>>54077571
>a few good units among a sea of garbage

All overpriced anyway, Corshit shill.
>>
>>54077543
Yeah, this 865w unit (~$135 on sale) provides ~35 minutes of juice for my desktop(idle load), studio monitors, and 2x 2560x1440p IPS monitors. During gaming it will last 10-25 minutes depending on the game and how much load it requires.

It has the ability to add a 2nd external battery (~$150) via a simple cable hookup, so I could potentially double the capacity fairly easily, but this is already more than enough for my use.
