I dropped my Galaxy s2 in the toilet.
I will probably have to get another one tomorrow if the heating doesn't dry it enough..
Removed batteries, cards, etc..
What do I get?

>i don't have the tools to open it now, stores are closed
>poorfag could do maybe $250 if it was worth it
>live in scotland
>>
Sink it in rice for a couple of days without turning it on
>>
>>54053925
I am applying for jobs atm and want to know that on Monday I will have a reliable device.
(as reliable as a phone can be that was bought in 2012 and have changed 4-5 times OSs like this one.).

Should I leave it on the heater for a while first and later put it in rice?
I have brown basmati here... hope it works..
>>
Just dont try turn it on until its completely dried or else it could short circuit and become destroyed
>>
>>54053962
I turned it off as quickly as I could but it went on Download mode...
I panicked and pulled the battery..
I think I didn't make it fast enough...
>>
>>54053959
>basmati

No, Pajeet, toilets are not for cleaning phones.
>>
>>54053911

Leave it in there, it's where it belongs anyways.
>>
>>54053925
this is actually the stupidest shit on planet earth and I have no idea why you fags keep perpetuating this myth
>>
>>54053911
leave it in there and buy a new phone, shit nigga s7 is already out
>>
>>54054038

the rice creates a negative pressure differential that draws out the moisture idiot
>>
Get a baggie, put rice in it, microwave rice for about 7 seconds, drop phone in to warm rice bag, leave overnight or longer.
Once in a while, jostle the bag. This will encourage any water inside the device to move around, the heat will encourage the water to phase change, and the rice is absorbent.
>>
>>54053911
It's an S2. Who gives a shit? Get a new phone already.

what do I buy with $200-250 ??
I don't want graphics. RAM would be nice because i browse a lot and shitpost but I don't multitask, etc...
Android preferred.

I can't wait for online purchasing, I gotta take it in store (and take it in the butt for the overprice)..

I just moved here, I live as a guest jobseeking and poorfagging with noodles and bean cans... I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS NOW.

I was gonna get a new one when I got a job...
>>
>>54054130
Buy a OPO or a OPX. Best bang for your buck and almost in your pricerange. Buy used if you have to, just make sure you run checks on the phone. (Check water seals, run CPU-Z and tests before you buy).
>>
>>54054104
The rice is brown, which means it has little splinters and shit that might go inside and around the phone... will it make things worse?
Stores are closed..
>>
Desiccant bags work better than rice.
Go steal some from a shoe store and use them instead.
>>
Dunk it in Isopropanol - Maplins sells it. Just leave it in the stuff for a few hours, then leave it on a radiator for an hour. Get the 99%+ stuff, and it will wick away ALL moisture from inside the phone and evaporate away.

Galaxy S2 was one of my first smartphones, I loved it, still regret giving it up.

Just don't breathe the fumes from the Iso - you have to be a glasgow jaiky to get away with being careless with that stuff.

this is what I wanted to get fammo once I get a job.. How long will it take to deliver in the UK ??

Stick it a sealed container of silica gel for the weekend without turning it on. It's a better desiccant than rice.

Protip: "Crystal" types of kitty litter are almost 100% silica gel. They usually have some colored crystals thrown in so you can tell how many times your cat pissed there.
>>
>>54054236
>How long will it take to deliver in the UK ??
If you splurge for express it literally takes 2 days. Standard takes about a week and a bit. But if you're getting a job and want the new phone quick may as well.
>>
>>54054245
ALSO, DO NOT SUBMERGE IN RICE. THIS DOESN'T REALLY HELP. A BATH IN HIGH% ISOPROPYL ALCHOHOL WILL HELP MUCH MORE.
>>
>>54054038
Not actually a myth you fag, rice absorbs moisture like your mom absorbs nigger cum

it was lovely. Still i regret for paying $700 but it still works, only the vibration stopped and the occasional crash.
Let's see how it will go now.

Alright, it is IN the rice. I forgot to wash it with clean water, there was a little piss in the toilet, you know when it is mostly clean water but a slight tiny yellow hue...

ALSO the BROWN rice make little flakes all over the phne and inside.... I think it is properly dead....

I have sealed it in a box with rice, I am thinking of opening it tomorrow... no more experiments.

get yourself a half ton of 3A molecular sieves. try not to expose them to air too much or if you do, cook them in the oven for a bit before you use them in a nice sealed container.

You probably weren't writing a ROM to it at the time so you should still be gucci. Only problem is if it turning on by itself means it shorted something, or the power and volume button are permanently in a pressed state.

>poorfag

Buy rice or crystal cat litter. Put in ziplock for up to a week.

>proactive poorfag

Save silica gel packets from stuff you might buy on a regular basis (pre-popped popcorn/kettlecorn, pre-sliced meats, exposed electronics like PCI cards, etc.)

Open packets (they're completely safe, but don't swallow them obv; silica gel is deadly not because they are poisonous, but because they're such an effective disiccant that they'll bubble out in your throat from your own saliva and choke you), empty packets into ziplock, leave phone for no less than 3 days.

>retard

Buy a rescue kit. Effective, but expensive (usually)
>>
Why not get a dumbphone at almost-negligible cost, and then get a nice new smartphone once you're employed?

because I could get a similar phone to S2 with 1RAM and Lollipop cheap too. (My S2 didn't get Lolli update)

About anything. Get sth. reliable and cheap like a Moto E 2nd gen. if money is such an issue. No need to spend more than 120ish to get something solid for calls, messaging, browsing nowadays.
