I bought Sky Dolch off of Originative awhile back along with some of their keycap holders.

>pic related is pretty similar to my setup aside from CMYK modifiers from GMK

I really like their keycap holders except for one thing - they don't fit DSA caps correctly. You can't shut the lid, and they hold two keys in the third row properly. I suspect that this is probably because they were only meant for GMK keys.

if you're asking for the weights in grams, it's in the picture. if you're asking for how they compare, blacks are 60g/45g = 1.3 times as heavy as reds. as for compared to your membrane, who the fuck knows, measure it if you want.
the point is, i can describe it all i want but it won't beat actually trying one. if you want to try reds your average pc shop probably has some gaymen keyboards with them.

Maybe you guys can help me with something. I already have switches and caps for these 2 keyboards (1 set of MX white, 1 of clears), but ordering the Plancks with switches costs only 8$ more, so why not get some, right?

The question is, which ones should I get? Are the Gateron any good?

You should try lubing the stems. I just applied thick lube to the stems under the keycaps and pressed them down a few times. The upstroke noise feels a bit dampened, but is still there with the characteristic clack. Kind of like the click of cherry blue compared to cherry white, the lubed clack is far softer.

It also feels amazing. I can't describe it that well yet since I've been typing on it only since 10 minutes or so, but it feels smooth and really soft, but still with springiness and resistance in it.
Really fucking nice.

>>53968174
Yeah, not that thick PBT, except for the spacebar. though I snatched some pre-production samples from our meme overlord when he was selling them.
>>
>>53968191
I just used a key puller to remove the caps. The single size keys are easy.

The larger keys take a bit more care. The RF is the same as the HHKB in that there are no stabilizers for the shift, enter, backspace, etc. The keycap just sits on that black plastic support. I actually just pulled with one end on my fingers and used the blunt end of the keycap puller to pry the other end.

The spacebar is tricky, that does have stabilizers. I did a similar thing with this where I pulled on one end with my finger and used the keycap puller to pry the other end off of the stabilizer. You also have to be careful with the spacebar because the actual slider has a spring that freely sits on top, so you don't want to lose that spring.
>>
>>53968265
what kind of puller did you use?
the topre standard one of a wirepuller
>>
>>53968191
>>53968334
see >>53968245

Use a wire keycap puller, or at least a plastic U-shaped one instead of the metal one that comes with the realforce keyboards. Wire puller is optimal, u-shaped one is a pain but at least it won't scratch your caps as long as it's plastic.

Wire keycap pullers are available for quite cheap, so I'd suggest just getting one of those.
>>
>>53968445
>it won't scratch your caps as long as it's plastic
It still can, it's just less likely.
>>
>>53968445
Damn I forgot about that bizarre keycap puller that came with my RF. I chucked that thing in my miscellaneous bin. But yeah I used a wire puller.

Alright, so Anon was kind enough to help me out in the last thread with my Noppoo Choc Mini whose right shift didn't work. After already replacing the switch and it still not working, he advised me to test the PCB and tracks with a multimeter.

Today, I tested it, and the tracks seem to be just fine, and the right shift exhibits the same behavior as the left shift while testing with a multimeter. Yet, when I press right shift it still won't work. I'm at my wits end.

QFR is pretty good.

Get new caps in two years and get a frost flake controller for custom key binds, and then paint the case or something.

Goat keyboard IMO.

I ruined the mini USB port on mine. The cable keep slipping out of those tracks, and that puts stress on the port.

Getting 10 new ones for 1 dollar tho. I hope those tiny contact points wont be too much trouble with the rather thick tip of my soldering iron.

its between that and the Ajazz AK33 my only issue is the ajazz has backlighting while Magicforce doesn't, but my main worry is just not liking the cheap cherry mx knockoffs, I just have no idea how they'll feel.

>spending a ludicrous amount of money on an overrated keyboard
That's a very silly decision to make. I don't think you're looking for people to talk you out of it as much as you want people to give you any tiny reason TO buy it. IF you have 1000 to just blow then that's your call, but I would at least think it through and make sure it's gonna be a sound financial decision.
>>
>>53974268

They are a decent investment, I doubt they'll be coming down in price anytime soon.

As someone that's sold a couple, I decided to keep regular SSKs and full-sized industrial Ms instead. You can find them for 200/500ish in great shape.

Currently deciding between the OG and Infinity ErgoDox.

It's there, but not awful. My main issue with it now is the people the money goes to. They practically sold out as Massdrop shills, and act like pretentious twats all the time advertising their wanker club.

Perfect example of people who care more about the money than the hobby. Stick with the OG.
>>

Ive never noticed any latency, though i haven't gamed on it at all. I use it to write code all day at work though and haven't had a single hiccup. My soldering skills are absolute shit as well.

All that being said, go for the infinity, it's better in every possible way from what i can tell and im probably getting one myself.

What does /mkg/ think of Logitech's Romer-G switches?

I just picked up a G810; needed a new KB stat and it was the most compact mechanical with brown-ish switches I could get, and I actually like it a lot. They make quite a bit of spring noise, but the feel is actually really nice, with an interesting friction-y feel that my old Browns didn't have.

The KB itself is pretty nice too, and I'm really happy to see a gaming company make a keyboard that actually looks appropriate on an adult's desk. (Once the rainbow bullshit is turned off, of course.) I really like how compact it is compared to other "gaming" full-size KBs as well, especially since a board without a num pad isn't an option for me.

>>53977582

Build a dactyl.

You can hand wire it and use pro-micro controllers in each half. They can be linked together or run seperately.

As for ergodox latency? Honestly it is non-existant. You even get nkro if you use tmk-keyboard firmware. I used it to type my thesis and game everyday, but have had no issues. The infinity is really nothing more than an ergodox with a bunch of gimmivks slapped on.
>>
>Tfw my first mech is "Out for delivery" and I'm anxiously sitting here waiting
>>
>>53979218

Most of the people here who hate backlit keyboards are really just insecure about living with their parents well into their late 20s and believe that if they buy conservative keyboards it will compensate for their perceived lack of maturity.

Since backlit keyboards are usually associated with gaming and gaming is traditionally associated with children, they ridicule others for exhibiting behavior society typically considers immature because, having lived with their parents well into their late twenties, seeing others exhibit such behaviors reminds them of their own failure to move out of their parents house and become self sufficient in a timely manner.

Basically, they buy non-backlit keyboards to compensate for a deep seated sense of inadequacy the same way people buy fedoras believing it will make them appear sophisticated.
>>
>>53982258
But gaming IS immature. Grow the fuck up and move out of your mom's basement already.

>But gaming IS immature.

>>
>>53982258
Could not have put this any better myself.

>>53982293
Is it? Do explain
>>
>>53979218

Two main reasons

>backlighting fails quickly

Backlighting LEDs fail quite often, and finding LEDs that match the ones on your board perfectly can be quite a pain in the ass.

It also requires knowing how to solder to replace them.

>good backlit keysets are hard to find

Most people here love aftermarket keysets. And good looking aftermarket keysets that support backlighting of the keys are quite rare. You never find them with neat color schemes like those of Signature Plastics keysets.
