Engineers in Apple's new automotive division are using Hackintosh because the current Mac Pro is too goddamn slow.

What happens when the ford assembly line worker pulls up in a fiat?

Besides getting laughed at, nothing.

Do you think engineers have to use all the products they make? you think the creator of the moto G uses a Moto G? You think the engineers behind the dell Inspiron use a Dell Inspiron?
>>
>>53943974
I'd be surprised if the opposite was true, nobody ever bought a Mac for 3D work, I would wager that even their hardware engineers likely don't run OS X.
>>
>>53944008
Immediate "termination".
>>
>>53944008
People who do iCloud back-end shit all have a personal Linux server sitting somewhere in their office.

It's rare for developers working on software running natively on an Apple platform to use non-Apple hardware though.

So, if Microsoft uses a machine that runs QNX to manufacture Lumia, Microsoft lost?
>>
Isnt the whole OS oriented to multimedia designing? Engineers arent on that track
>>
>>53944401
No, because although Microsoft might run other operating systems in their machines, no one uses Mac hOmoSeX.

How did they make this then?

Most engineers at google use either osx or linux.

I saw a video from their lab once, they had PCs with Windows XP installed to operate the machines used to test devices.

Is it really a Hackintosh if Apple puts it together themselves? Or is it merely a Mac that only Apple gets to use?
>>
>>53944986
The actual definition of hackintosh lies solely with the lack of apple's device id embedded in the low level services like firmware and bios
Older macs used to come with chips on the board that would verify the legitimacy of the hardware at boot
Idk if theyre still doing that or if they came up with a different solution since the chip's task can be emulated
It was basically hardware drm
About as intelligent as apple drones themselves
>>

those xp-machines allow apple to annihilate Microsoft in every market they're in. ;^)

>>53943974

>>
>>53945493
Apple kinda stopped trying to stop people doing Hackintosh.

There aren't anything in the OS X that prevents people from running on non-genuine hardware anymore.

Most Hackintosh users were able to upgrade from Yosemite to El Capitan using the regular OS X upgrade process with no issue other than a few USB ports not working until loading a patched kext.

Well, DSMOS.kext (The kernel extension whose only purpose in life is to stop OS X from running on non-intel hardware by making the SMC hardware mandatory) is still in the system.
>>
I don't know whether they use it or not (it could honestly be, on compatible hardware it's pretty goddamn good).

I'm using hackintosh as sort of a gateway. I need my adobe tools, but not games that much. I'm dual booting and I haven't used Windows in about a whole month, I'm starting to think it's pointless. This hasn't worked in -years- for dual booting Windows and a linux distro for me. I always went back to Windows.

I just like this OS, with the flaws it has. It still works better for me than installing whatever average popular distro at the moment. And I'm fairly sure I'll be using linux at some point but hackintosh has been working mighty fine here.
>>
Someone please make an up to date guide to hackintosh.
>>
>>53947992
Honestly, the one in tonymac worked fairly well for me. Sure enough the extra step before it is to put it on USB which involves either having access to another computer with OSX (or a Mac) or using a virtual machine for this purpose.

I also have had people telling me I should just remove clover and install refind, but I just can't bother. I don't even know why I would do that anyways.

He thinks Microsoft are the faggots, he despises the company nowadays. He's switched careers now because his division was basically a sinking ship, he currently works with industrial solutions for train companies or something. He's frequently traveling to all kinds of places to make sure everything works.

He's also previously worked on the original Bluetooth patents, some of the gps hardware that ended up in the iphones, and military technology (he has some story about working with the Israelis, and he basically said there is reason not to trust them).

He once had to fly to England to fix some major bug he found when my xbox wouldn't connect to the Internet (he constantly brought home equipment he worked on and used it in our home), I was young and felt almost a bit proud because it felt like I'd found something :3

I'm proud of having him as my father

It's machine vision engineers, not CAD/CAM designers, who have switched to Hackintoshes.

This is a new development.
>>
>>53943974

Apple traditionally has been a couple years behind hardware wise and its gotten worse since they switched to their trash can mac pro.

Its gotten really far behind as they have focused more on the Mobil shit. In the end when you add in cpus not getting huge gains a mac pro these days is barely better then the ones that look like ops pic.

Which is sad because coding for apple is a thing and would go smoother (even if you do as much work on linux as possible) if you had a good mac pro with your other computers.
>>
>>53954332

Also does this mean hackintosh will be easier now? Cause I might actually build one for mobile development.
