Consider getting a phablet. The zte warp elite is a 5.5" android phone that can be used without being activated (just put in on airplane mode). It's like $100 right now.

If it's reading full-size PDFs, Sony Digital Paper hands down. Otherwise, it's a toss-up between e-readers. Kobo is pretty popular on /g/.

nothing with 16:9 ratios, they are uncomfortable to read horizontally or vertically. i can recommend you ipad mini (first edition). it's cheap now and has great battery life. 4:3 ratio is perfect, and i think there are no tablets with android like that.

Best is a new Chinese one with decent resolution, long battery life, and a microSD slot or two.
Do not get one without microSD, it's not like you need much processing power - but you'll want the storage.
'course you can get a slightly better one like a $200-300 Mipad or whatever if you also want to play the occasional game and navigate and do other stuff, but a ~$100-150 one should do the job. Probably also a $60-100 one, but I don't usually touch these, they tend to come with some drawbacks on the display's quality.
I heard the Dell Venue 8 is pretty good

I have the kindle paperwhite and it's been so easy on my eyes. The best thing about it tho is that it's ONLY for reading; no distractions. I know if I got a tablet I'd be jerking it to pics of my waifu instead of just reading.
