currently cruising on a 380x but once polaris hits I might upgrade to a 490x or a used fury x.
whatever has better performance.

This is the best case scenario that anyone could have hoped for. Thank you, based Raja.

I'm still gonna wait for 14nm + HBM2. There is no way in hell I'd ruin being a waitfag without going all out.

Lol been using an igpu since Christmas up until 2 weeks ago. Sister was nice enough to buy me a 780. I think I'll wait till later this year to make any purchases. Was waiting for Pascal but honestly I'll get whatever card is best for the money or a good deal.
>>
>>53914156
Just curious, did you have any driver issues with either of the two Nvidia updates in March? Saw a bunch of articles saying it could mess up your card and or Windows installation. My windows 10 kept boot looping and I assume it was because of this.
Didn't see any threads about this on /g/ unfortunately.
>>
>>53914086
i go for value, so its not likely i would ever touch the higher then 490x card unless i come into alot of money, but seeing as im sticking with 1080p i may get alot out of a card, at least maxing out 60fps on everything.

still going to wait on zen before i make the call on a new gpu but shits looking nice.
>>
>>53914083
didn't try the benchmark since I already know it's too weak for VR.
for new games it does a great job on 1080p but anything beyond that gets laggy.
it could handle dark souls 2 and some other older games on 4k though so I'm quite happy with the performance for that price.
>>
>>53914191

Hmm, I had 3 gtx 770s bust on me which is why I was gpu less since Christmas. Dunno what happened, what went wrong.... I just don't know anymore. Since then, Ive scrapped the system, sold the parts and got a new motherboard/cpu and psu. While I only ever had driver crashes on Windows 10, I won't blame Nvidia for that. 8.1 and 7 worked without any problems.

Anecdotal evidence of a user's history of GPU ownership doesn't mean those issues in your image aren't true.

I've been using nVidia GPUs (I think I've gone through 3 different sets of them, with 4 of 5 being in SLI) and I've never personally encountered any catastrophic driver issues that caused crashes, burned out GPUs or slow downs.

The 970 however isn't a driver issue, obviously. But even in those articles if you read them, they'll not that although the number of people that were experiencing those issues were enough to cause nVidia to recall the drivers, they were still an objectively small percentage of the owners.
>>
>>53921517

All of those drivers issues of nVidia's can be true, and people can still have owned multiple GPUs without having been affected by them. Learn to read you dumbass.

>>53921517
>Anecdotal evidence of a user's history of GPU ownership doesn't mean those issues in your image aren't true.
Did you reverse what I wrote in your head when you read it? Read slowly and carefully this time. I said just because someone with a (even long) history of ownership of a specific brand, doesn't negate anything in that picture that is posted of all of nVidia's driver issues.

Similarly I stated that 3.5GB memory flaw in the 970 isn't a driver issue so that doesn't even need to be addressed as it's a hardware fault.

tl;dr lrn2 english you faggot
>>
>>53921573
If you want to have an honest conversation, I worked as a cctv installer about 5 years back and I been doing it for about 8 years. I had to use both AMD and Nvidia. Both gives problem AMD way more than Nvidia. But when a fuck comes on here and say he's had 20 Nvid cards with no problems...it's pure BS
>>
>>53921827
>it's pure BS
Statistically speaking he probably trolling with meaningless bullshit, given this thread and typical discourse, I'll agree with you there. There's still a chance that someone could get lucky enough to have been hit by those driver issues. They always seem to affect specific configurations and not across an entire model lineup.

P11 has always been the new 7870/7850

The shrink characteristics along with the die size point to similar core counts. It's going to clock higher along with it's considerably more advanced hardware, and 4GB will be the norm instead of 2.

I'd wager per-clock performance of GCN rev.4 is roughly 20-30% better than GCN rev.1, and the new cards will ship ~1.2Ghz out of the box, able to hit at least 1450Mhz, and at similar power levels will offer about 70% better performance comparatively.

If I can buy large P11 for ~$150-175, and if it is a decent upgrade not a sidegrade, I'd rather have that and buy refined 14/16nm the year after instead of "big" polaris or pascal.

Nvidia GP200 didn't tape out until March, the pictures being shown out are very likely the first A0 steppings to come out of the fab. It's not silicon that would Ever be put onto market or even for partners to test.

>>
>>53925902
So you're it is a rebrand!
>>
>>53926584
How does this show rebrands? This just shows names of each die family. GM are all maxwell and GK is kepler. This doesn't show which cards from which gen are rebrands eg 2xx being rebranded to 3xx. They term 'unique chips' is misleading when a chip can be 'unique' but have 0 difference compared to the last chip except for a more mature chip leading to slightly better temps and clocks, which is what the 3xx series is.

Are you actively trying to deny that each amd card since the HD 7xxx series to the 3xx series has been a rebrand in one way or another?
>>
>>53926735
They're unique chips as in they aren't rebrands

Notice I didn't include GF110, a rework of the prior GF100 chip from 2010, known internally as GF100B?

Notice I didn't include Grenada, the Hawaii rebrand? or Trinidad the Pitcairn rebrand?
