Hello /g/ents. I think I'd like to pursue a career as a game technician, ie arcade games, slot machines and such. I've never done any technical schooling or college and I just have a GED, but I have a lot of hands on knowledge of PC's. I've always wanted to tinker in arcade games ever since my first job at a kid's arcade years ago. Currently work in a casino so I figure it's a way to move up. Any advice on what kind of classes I should get into like CET or basic electronic engineering? Pic semi related I guess.
>>
>>53905603
Get your CDL and drive a truck. It's in high demand and can pay very well when you work overtime. You'll never find a job as an arcade mechanic.
>>
>>53905706
I live in a town that has 9 or 10 casinos. Slot tech is possible. And there's a resort opening up soon that will have hundreds of arcade games. Though I appreciate your salty advice regardless.

How about you not pay the fucking minimum balance for 23 years you fucking shithead. 23 grand of debt for what? Did you get your secretary license and make minimum wage anyways? 26k for a stem field is like 4 years of fucking debt dude. Who the fuck takes 23 years to pay 26-32k. That's a little over a grand a year.
>>
>>53905814
Even at minimum wage that debt is easily dealt with... If you're not a retard paying less than the interest that accrues.
>>
>>53905603
Do you really get no SS if you have student loan debt?
>>
>>53905802
So you already work in a casino, presumably around techs that fix the machines? Have you tried asking them?

If it's anything like the dudes I remember as a kid who went around fixing claw games and candy machines, you'll be paid shit and hate your life since most places take a "Oh it's too broken? Just toss it out and buy a new one" approach.
>>
>>53905814
IIRC this was calculated before and found that the $32.7k she has paid doesn't even match the rate of inflation for a $26.4k loan over 23 years. Basically, she loaned the money, and still hasn't even paid back the principal.
>>
>>53905856
Well you can't even live on minimum but I still agree. This cunt was paying less than 120 a month for 23 years like a fucking idiot and wants to bitch why she couldn't pay off her 26k private school loan.
>>
>>53905603
I wouldn't call the minimum payment "loyal". If you borrow money, you are obligated to pay it back at the interest rate you agreed to. She obviously didn't get a stem degree or business degree for that matter.
>>
>>53905898
Bruh, Any one with half a brain can see how utterly fucked up that situation is.

Interest is one thing, sure, but lets get real, if you've paid back 32 grand, which is more than you even borrowed in the first place, it should be even.

Student loans are one of the biggest most impressive fucking scams of this century.

If you disagree you are literally sucking jew cock
>>
>>53905881
The answer is usually something like "dude just go to college". Thing is I really want to avoid a college if I can, I would much prefer to get certs or something similar. I got a real bad association with school, which sounds really autistic and I completely agree.

It's not terrible if you get recurring scholarships and financial aid. My loan was slightly less than hers aka less than 1 semester at full tuition.

After 2 years of shit jobs at $0/mo, I seriously considered taking out a small 6.8% loan before getting on a payment plan. Now I'm looking at a 3 year plan. Some heavily taxed things like mature savings bonds are tax exempt for student loans.

The situation is entirely her fault. No one forced her to pay the bare minimum that didn't even cover the interest accruing on the principal.
This isn't even in any way specific to student loans, that's just how compound interest fucking works.

So should I be able to go take a random loan, completely disregard the interest rate, pay back only the principal, and just call it even?

Taking out and paying off loans is a relatively minor challenge in life.

If you can't manage it, you might not be cut out to be an independant adult.

Luckily, women have the advantage of it being socially acceptable to marry a man who will fully support you financially.

But she can't even manage THAT.

Time to give up and die in a ditch.

That's a degree that requires good networking to pull off. I can see where an 18 year old could feel cheated after completing it and getting nothing from it. If a degree actually had no value, it would be sort of absurd for people to expect other people to pay for it, wouldn't it?

>>53907114
I think that it's a bit different.
In america when someone gets a loan to study for 5 years, they also use that money for surviving. Am I right?
Just because college is relatively cheap in europe, doesn't mean you can just spend years studying and not worry about money. You need the support of someone, or get a part time job.
>>
>>53907066
Yes. It's not actually math really. It's just a basic concept. You need money, the jew gives you the money you need, but you have to pay the jew smaller amounts of money over time. The more money you pay him, the sooner you stop having to pay him money. If you pay too little money, you'll have to keep paying him money forever.

Most people are doing fine with their first car, they don't crash it, but they decide they don't like it anymore and trade it in, it's depreciated far too quickly and they get negative equity. Then they will only get a loan for 28.9%, pay the minimum each month and end up far underwater.

If you want to perform a maintenance job without schooling, you'll have to find a related internship somewhere relevant. Your best bet is something industrial. It'll be hard work, but generally they'll also put you through school, or at least give you a decent amount towards it.
I work for a place that makes kidney dialyzers. I'm not a maintenance person, but my job involves maintenance and adjustments to the machinery. One of the maintenance guys here got his start at a nearby amusement park.

The most. Valuable thing you can do is electrical work. Either get an apprenticeship for that or go to school for it after you find a place that will help you pay for the schooling.
Where I work, they'll cover about 3/4 of my tuition. Most places in the area are the same or better.

I'm talking about autists in general. Autists are not open to influence. Autists only learn what they want to learn and tip their fedoras all the way home.

Autists are that kid who said "fuck math, you'll never use this", but actually smart enough for the math, not too dumb and trying to hide it. They're a serious problem for what western ed assumes a child "ought" to be taught.

No, autists are those kids who were convinced that they were professionals at everything they did, and that they were shunned and got bad grades due to social pressures and not because they vastly overestimated themselves and had an adversion to doing things other people's ways.
Also, they would flap their hands and talk about sanic.
>>
>>53911351

If there were free yes totally free educational programs for spergs maybe they could sort them out and use them for whatever they are best at.

Giving a chance of employment to anyone costs money but if done right brings more benefits and less wage cucks in the future.
>>
>>53911386
Autist brains don't work right. They can't fit themselves into the world. They're entitled by nature. And they flap their hands and talk about sanic.

You're confusing them with sheltered kids who got too many trophies and eventually failed under the pressure of false expectations. There's some overlap, especially when autists get homeschooled and can limit themselves to the few skills their brains can comprehend, but don't mix them up. One is a parenting problem. The other problem can only be solved with cyanide and sealed chambers.

Nobody who isn't living off a government tugboat can survive next to them. I'm not surprised they're floundering now, 90% go to college and live like millionaires' trust fund kids.

What? You don't take out loans that have 25% interest?
>>
>>53911552
Yeah it's fucked up. I'm a grad student and it was hard as fuck to find a place to live I could afford on my stipend. Nearly all there is around here is fucking luxury apartments with waterparks and massive gyms and theaters and just bullshit that are like $1500 for a bedroom in a shared apartment. And from the rate at which they continue to build these things, they obviously have no problem renting them out.

College kids are entitled little fucks. And don't even get me started on how fucking whiny they get when they don't get an A for their, at best, mediocre work.

More like 5% idiot.

>>53911694
Sorry I didn't take the time out to calculate the interest. it's ~4.6%, or a little higher. Sorry.
Still, paying minimum is a bitch.

>In america when someone gets a loan to study for 5 years, they also use that money for surviving.
It's the same in the UK.

Nah they do. Even at 7% interest, if she hadn't paid at all she would owe like $130k after 23 years, so paying off a little bit of the interest before it compounds those numbers are totally believable. Still her fault for being a 'tard though.

I see a lot of progressives say this to justify how Trump could get so popular, but the vast majority of Trump supporters I hear about actually do like most of his policies. Like all his protectionist policies are very pleasing to his supporters.
Only thing where I see less-conservative supporters waver is the abortion related stuff recently.

>Americans
> forced to take out loans to go to school

At least pay closer attention to the heart of the problem.

Since the mid- to late-1970s, there should have been a provision for students to attend at least 2 years of post-high school education for free. Any field, just so long as they maintain a minimum GPA (I'd say over 2.5 on the traditional 4 point scale).

Those with good enough grades and actual financial need should have been eligible for a full 4-year degree, so long as they meet certain requirements (such as minimum GPA, being accepted into a program, being on-track to finish in under 5 years, etc.).

Since the mid-1990s, every high school graduate should have had the option to attend a university to obtain a 4 year degree for free, again pending other minimal qualifications.

As a country, we've just been shooting ourselves in the head by trying to figure out ways to keep people out of school and burdening them with crushing debt on a gamble. Professional fields are changing so rapidly now that what you enter school for doesn't exist four years later.

Businesses also now expect a fresh college graduate to have a resume that 30 year old workers had spent a decade building in 1980, or they will hire a Poojeet on an H1-B that has a falsified resume specifically so they can let him go after 4 years of performing shit work. It's completely insane.
