Please name some reasons other than disk space for me to purchase a MacBook instead
>>
os x > chrome os imo
>>
Runs an actual OS
>>
>>53898395
i'm using linux either way so OS isn't important
>>
a reason other than only having 32GB of storage?
>>
>>53898404
GL with your 2 hours of battery usage
>>
>>53898395
this, also osx > linux if you're a developer that actually works somewere
>>
Lel, I download 32gb in one week

Also, how does a chromebook keyboard looks like?
>>
Make up your own decisions. Fucking conformists.
>>
>>53898382
I am actually amazed no one on 4chan even mentions the dell inspiron 3000 with the ips touchscreen that you can actually open the back and upgrade your stuff, keep bringing up $1000 laptops but don't look at good cheap stuff.
>>
>>53902032
one word, consumerist retardation
>>
>>53899037
That was the old model

>>53899696
Pretty good, trackpad as good as the Macbook
>>
>>53898404
If you're going to use linux then be ready to open it up right away and remove write protection to be able to even flash it, then even after that SeaBIOS can be a bitch sometimes. Booting up with SeaBIOS will never look pretty or being quick. I would buy another laptop where you don't have to deal with these things just to use Linux if I were you.
>>
if all you do is use the internet then it's the best.

on my pixel ls it hasn't crashed with <100 tabs open. feels and looks(imo) better than a mbp.

prefer it over my thinkpad and surface pro 3.

if you need a real os , you can install galliumos on it too.

>shit input devices
>shit build quality

It sure is cheap, but good? Not really.
>>
>>53898382
Why so narrow?
Dell xps 13/15
Hp spectre
Schenker s413
....
>>
>>53898382
The question is rather, why you'd spend almost as much for an objectively worse machine with worse specs. What does the Pixel offer OVER the Macbook outside of the price?

Tho if you're not going to use OSX, you'd be losing out a lot, might as well get cucked SSD and Pixel.

>>53902032
Because only desperately poor people still upgrade their laptops, and if you take that away, it sucks cock.

>>53902276
Does it have gestures? If not, it's not even close to Macbook trackpads. Not being as shit as typical Windows laptop doesn't mean as good, anon.

Let me guess, you think 16GB RAM and SSD is a meme too?
>>
>>53902032
I own a Dell Inspiron 11 3000.
You get what you pay for. The plastic casing chips with the shortest fall. Power port is poorly designed and mine has broken three times. Next time I fix it I'm going to use tissue paper to cushion the power port area so that it doesn't move around and break.

>Pretty good, trackpad as good as the Macbook
I meant what keyboard LOOKS like. As in which keys does it have.

sounds like you just don't take care of your shit. shows how your 11 3000 looks like right now
>>
>>53899037
Actually chromebook pixels still have over 11 hours of battery life when Linux is installed with crouton.
>>

What a cuck. Your laptop does your bidding, not the other way round.
>>
>>53905366
Chromebooks have gestures too. The two figure gesture to go backward and foward in a webpage is one of my favorite things about my chromebook.

2/10 is the best I can do
>>
>>53907230
Oh, that's pretty sweet, definitely better than Botnet 10. Does Loonix support it too without too annoying workarounds?
>>
>>53907253
Personally I can overlook most but no DEL is fucked up. What were they thinking? Chromebooks aren't good for much more than text editing.

Don't Chromebooks just boot straight to Google Chrome web browser? You won't be able to use any other software.
>>
>>53907214
no laptop will last abuse of the sort you're doing, only manchildren abuse equipment they spent hard earned money on.
>>

10.1" screen, 12" is the bare minimum for productivity.

>>
>>53907393
They were thinking they can provide for it in software exactly like osx does in macbooks. And they do.
>>
>>53902572
This is entirely wrong. Legacy boot works ootb with ctrl-L in dev mode.

>>53907288
I use it as a daily with Linux preinstalled. Necessary workarounds include: custom kernel (Raphael/samus) with included scripts for various things, need xmodmap to add navigation and delete, need to press ctrl-L every boot, which I do maybe once every 3 weeks.
>>
>>53907393
Shift backspace
>>
>>53906018
Dang now that is a keyboard for normies

Not that I wouldn't settle into that but I need to do work on this shit
>>
>>53907681
How much
>>
>>53910224
bout tree fiddy

thousand
>>
>>53907935
There are similar models for 12.1" and 12.5".
>>53910224
>>53911309
I'm pretty sure you could get it for a couple hundred cheaper at least on Rakuten.
>>
>>53908183
Certainly not the most comfortable way but could be worse. I don't even remember when I rebooted my laptop last time, so at least the latter is minimal annoyance.

So how's the battery life with Linux? Also what distru?
>>
>>53902572
seabios is fine. i put arch linux on my c720 and the battery is fine. just use a lot of hinbernate.

the protection isn't hard to do if you're not stupid. just take the panel off and remove a screw
>>
>>53899037
>use OS X with any web browser but safari
>get this anyways
>>
>>53911586
I'm compile heavy, so I'll usually get around 5 hours when working. But it'll last 10 when browsing and 2 weeks on idle.

I use Ubuntu vanilla with the 4.4 Raphael samus kernel
