I wanna build my own. Was looking at sf5 on g2a and it could be like 30 bucks.

What happened anon? Tell us the story. Did a fighting game take your love?
>>
I wanted to get 2 fight sticks back when mkx was coming out. Little did I know these fight sticks cost fucking hundreds. I wasn't about to spend that much money for a genre I'm not even that good at.
Anyway, I saw fight sticks on eBay similar to the one in ops pic. I think they were either mayflash, hori or just generic.. Are they actually good for the money? Or should I just stick to a controller? Definitely not spending 150+ per fight stick.

A modded Dreamcast Arcade Stick (I basically just switched the original mushy buttons and stick for arcade-tier hardware).
>>
>>53731998
Yea I always hear how much better they are but I'm not spending hundreds on them. Just wanted to know if the sticks that look like ops are good? They're usually on eBay for like 40 50 bucks.
>>
>>53732046

I'm not saying their worth the hundreds, I'm just saying having an arcade stick is better, atleast to me, than using a controller for certain games.

I'm the op, so I'm looking for a relatively cheap stick because I'm not spending more than 75 on a hori stick
>>
>>53730880

Hori Ministick
Hori Fight commander 4
Matcatz Fightpad

Mostly for versus and Arcade emulation
>>
>>53732041
aren't these a pain to mod ?
>>
>>53730913
>he doesn't
I had bad RSI two years ago and I used a PS3 controller with GlovePie to reduce straight. Mouse on either joystick, X=left click, O=rightclick, triangle=tab, triggers had ctrl, alt, pgup, pgdn. That covered basically all the navigation. Was pretty cool.
>>
>>53732064
Oh, yea. It's like getting a wheel to play racing games,a completely different experience. I think when the full version of street fighter 5 comes out or whenever tekken 7 is released I'll buy the mayflash fight stick. It pretty much looks like the stick you posted and they're a little under 40 bucks. Can't really say it's a waste if it does what it's supposed to do I suppose. I'm a casual player when it comes to fighting games, it's my weakest game type. No matter how much I play I just never really progress. If I get better at these games, maybe I'll get a fancy stick in the future.

sticks fuck up your wrist bad, worse than a mouse will

>>
>>53732150

If anything, I'm looking for a cheap base stick that I can upgrade in the future with microswitches out the ass if I really get into fighting games
>>
Slightly unrelated, I'm looking for a flight stick for ps4 for when EVE Valkyrie comes out. I don't want to break VR immersion if I can help it.
>>
>>53732136
Uh... I can't compare my experience to anything but I don't remember it being particularly hard or annoying. It's been almost 14 years now and I don't remember the details but it was basically just a matter of fitting the new buttons into the original holes. I'm pretty sure I had to make them just a little bigger... (using a rounded file) I can say this though: the Dreamcast stick's case is rather roomy and the top plate is made of sheet metal and if those aren't ideal preconditions, then I don't know what else you could ask for.
>>
>>53732146
That's a controller, though. And a trackball is 10 times better than using a controller as far as ergonomics are concerned.
>>
Qanba q2. I think it's pretty good for the price
>>
>>53732206
you could look for used madcatz TE, the older ones for xbox360/ps3

those are really nice

Modded Qanba Q4 RAF: Ice Blue Edition

Switched out the original actuator for an oversized one to shorten the throw and hitting diagonals more easily.

Other mods are just cosmetics: Different balltop, shaft guard, dust washer and start button I think.

Overall a good stick for sure but I don't recommend translucent Sanwa pushbuttons. They rattle and don't offer that familiar satisfying sound you're used to.

Unrelated, what the fuck is going on. I can't type right now at all. It took me 3 minutes to type this and I had to proof read. I think I may be dying...

Tell me about optical joysticks and silent buttons - are they worth it? I'm an extreme casual, but cant stand the thought of anyone in my house hearing click/clack for hours
>>
MadCatz something
The stick moves around in a square and it's got a turbo button
>>
>>53734864
the clicking and clacking of the stick is actually helpful feedback to me. i think sanwa has and optical stick? if i recall correctly its restrictor gate is to me a little nice since its one solid piece unlike other models that have a little bit of give. i wouldn't go optical with the stick personally. silent buttons are probably fine though. haven't tried them tough. just buy one of each and try them maybe? or get a small one for the start button and you can at least actually use it.
