How to clean a mouse with "rubberized" texture? I have the Corsair M65 mouse that is amazing. Problem is that the rubberized texture of it picks up and shows oil like no one's business. My PC has been acting strange, sorry for the long post.
Whenever I start up my computer to the user screen in Windows, the keyboard and mouse don't work at all. But when I click on the mouse, it still lights up, same with the keyboard (the light indicating caps lock is on lights up) which means that they're still plugged in and working somehow (they're USB products, not the same brand).
This started a few months ago I think. Back then I'd just wait a day or so and try it again and it runs normally. But this problem's been occurring more frequently lately. It's like every time I start my PC, there's a 50% chance of the mouse and keyboard being frozen and it's driving me nuts.
The only solution I've discovered is to shut down the PC when both aren't working, unplug both of them while it's off, turn on the PC again and plug them back in when the user screen pops up. It's a hassle to do every single time, I gotta crawl under the desk and blindly look for the USB ports.
I've searched Google for help many times already, though I don't understand the answers much because my knowledge of computers doesn't go beyond the general stuff.

Hey /g/, a quick one. My boot drive is an 850 Pro M.2, and it runs pretty hot compared to my other drives, ramping up to around 60c at load, when my CPU and GPU both rarely make it above 40 and 50 degrees, respectively.
Do you think there'd be any worth in attaching some of those small heatsinks (see pic) with some thermal tape, just on to the memory chips? I could get a pack of them for about $5 US.

zfs is very much focused on accuracy over speed (or anything else, really)
it won't buffer writes on volatile memory (iirc), which can be a big performance loss, it expects you to use an ssd as a write buffer/intent log ("ZIL device")
there is an option to allow ram-based write buffering, at the cost of potential data loss in the case of a crash/power loss (not any more than other filesystems though), sync=disabled
also like other filesystems, you can disable access time writing if you don't need it which avoids writes during file accesses (atime=off)

I've got the steel series Sensei mouse and it has rubber grip on each side if the mouse and that shit doesn't take long to get noticeable oil marks from your fingers. As a rule of thumb never use rubbing alcohol on rubber just because as you have seen, it eats that shit up. What I usually do is take a paper towel and some window cleaner, it doesn't harm the rubber as far as I can tell and it makes it squeeky clean :) I have owned the mouse for 2 years now and I clean it at least 2 times a week with window cleaner (Windex or something equivalent) and the rubber has stayed in pristine condition! Running w10 here, trying to install mint, created a bootable USB using rufus, MBR mode BIOS/UEFI, everything seems fine, but then when I boot from this USB, it just boots into windows anyway. I have disabled secure boot, fast startup, and of course the system is configured to boot from USB. I feel like this has something to do with W10 but I don't know what.

It's funny -- if I plug in a random USB and boot, I get the expected hang "no bootable partition"
But when I plug in this "bootable" USB installer, it dumps me straight into windows with no comment.
Past few days I've been having connectivity issues when trying to visit Japanese sites like http://www.nicovideo.jp or http://www.pixiv.net/
Basically what happens is it takes forever to load, at times not even loading. I'm not getting connectivity/speed issues elsewhere. Also if I tether with my phone, I can connect to those sites fine.

Its super easy and can make a bootable USB for like ANY Linux distro in a jif. Great for experimenting. As someone with Win10 that USB booted, this worked for me.

I had to disable secure boot 3 TIMES in 3 different BIOS locations to get w10 to fuck off.
