Touch screens are kinda lame but tiny hardware controls are not great either. Touch screens are usually quicker to navigate (than a roller/nub or D-pad controls) and more versatile in layout/control. The battery life, keyboard, and over all reliability of the iPhone has been incredible, but I hate how they lock you down. As stupid and autistic as it sounds, I just miss clover. iOS is fine. Android is a great OS, but Google doesn't respect your privacy. However, I've been using a Nexus for years and I've bought a lot of games for my SHIELD tablet.
I would get an Ubuntu phone, but it doesn't have enough app support. My next phone may just be an iPhone. I'm really not sure where to go at this point. I like my Nexus, but I don't trust Google.

I own both iOS devices and Android devices. The android devices work but from a software perspective, they're thoroughly "meh" - nothing about them is exceptional. This is really sad, because there are Android devices out there with excellent hardware that will never live to their full potential because they're chained to Android.
iOS has a few glaring weaknesses but makes up for that in being awesome at what it can do. To me this is better. Excelling at some things > being OK at everything any day.

The difference between generic PCs and phones/tablets is that all PCs follow x86 PC standards, meaning that every single x86 PC out there will be largely the same, while phone/tablet manufacturers have a hardon for being snowflakes and using a unique hardware setup for each device. This means that in order for updates to work on these device, manufacturers first have to tweak said updates and make sure that their custom drivers, etc work with it.
In short, Google needs to man the fuck up and mandate a standardized Android Hardware Platform. Manufacturers are free to not abide by the AHP standards, but by doing so they forfeit support from Google as well as the right to use Android language and trademarks.
