/g/ is this it? is there any way to rollback the botnet?

if there isnt a way to roll it back or stop it, can someone paste the info how to disable the botnet parts??
>>
They backported the botnet to earlier versions of Windows. There's no escaping the botnet if you use Windows, plain and simple. Either accept that Microsoft wants you to use 10, or use an OS that isn't a fucking botnet like GNU or *BSD.
>>
>>53652815
You can go back. Its in the settings for windows 10.
>>
>>53652815
That's because you're a retard who didn't disable updates. I'm running 8.1 and never seen any autoupdate ever popup.

If everything Windows is botnet now, why not use Windows 10?
>>
>>53652831
They didn't backport it to Windows XP. XP is still botnet free thankfully.

What I mean is, besides the botnet, is Win10 any good? It seems great otherwise. Ads are part of the botnet but you can disable the ads right?
>>
>>53653160
go back to /v/
>>
>>53653160
There's just tons of stuff you would have to disable, and most of it is re-enabled after a forced update every month. It really combines the bad aspects of 7 and 8
>>
>>53653160
You can try to rationalize it but you're still helpless and owned. The best thing you can do for yourself is take back control of your computer and install linux/GNU/BSD. There are many guides to help you transition and /flt/ is suprisingly helpful.

7 is good though. Is 8.1 any better than 10?
I plan on using Win7 until 2020, but 4 years from now i imagine I'll migrate over to Win8.1

>install gentoo
Nah I'll keep linux contained to a vm, thx
>>
>>53653217
8.1 is good, just disable updates. Then nothing will bother you.
>>
>>53653217

Only if you're using it on a tablet

its like you really are retarded

Except all the bots and hackers raping you since you arent recieving any security patches. idiot.

This is fucking retarded. Just read the description of updates before installing them and you will be fine.
>>
>>53653267
They stopped putting descriptions on them
>>
>>53653275
Yes, you have to click on the link to the web site for every fucking update now
>>
>>53653215
Oh don't get me wrong, I like Linux and all but I need windows applications. I'm not really that adverse to the botnet until it annoys me.

>>53653267
>>53653244
Service updates are literally the point of staying on supported OS.
>>
>>53653284
I'm pretty sure I did that and it was like a one liner that said something like "this is a security update" and then it was actually the update that auto downloads windows 10 onto your machine without your permission "for later use"
>>
>>53653266
>bots
>hackers

Where are they? I don't see them. I've been running 8.1 for more than a year now and never ever even had to reinstall, let alone fix anything. It runs like a champ every day. I don't even know how you can get a virus, how can you have issues with bots? Hackers? Do you do something special to get into trouble or you have to be a natural retard to get to that point?

Do you go around clicking everything on the internet and installing all the free_boobs32.exe you can find or how the fuck can you even get malware if you know what you're doing, you stupid fuck?
>>
>>53653267
Tell me one update that is important to install.
>>
>>53653379
Any security update.
>>
>>53653348
>Where are they? I don't see them.
Do you think malware loves making its presence known or something?

>I don't even know how you can get a virus
What a surprise you don't know what exploits are. Since you're running an unpatched Windows your OS is full of security holes and it's only a matter of time before you become part of some botnet if you aren't already.
>>
>>53653425
No shit. Maybe everyone already is and that is and will be unpatched for the next years until someone finds out about it. By virtue of the same argument.

How about no malware or security issue can affect you if you don't install random shit on your rig and don't use any shady software. What the fuck are they going to do, ddos your IP? The ISP will block them after a while, if so. Literally nothing can happen to you if you know what you're doing. Security updates are for normies who don't know shit about what they're doing, so they need to be handheld at every move they make.

So, how does lacking their latest security update make my rig open to anything? Via the browser? The router? Just by browsing a web page you think the html/css/js soup will magically install malware and make me part of a botnet?

It's not like they can install anything on your PC, without you agreeing to it.
>>
>>53653348
spoken like a true amateur. Let me guess, youve blocked every single port on your firewall except 43 so u can shitpost on 4chan securely?

Fuckhead. Turn updates off. I am on 7, straight out of the box with no updates ever and I have never had any problems with it.
>>

This. I just use my windows 7 machine as an airgapped notepad and calculator, sometimes i look at the calendar. not ONE problem. Take that linux fags.

Leave him alone he's obviously an uneducated child. He probably doesnt even understand the fact that firewalls and routers get tons of hits from people doing illegal ping sweeps looking for open ports hundreds-thousands of times a minute.

>To exploit this vulnerability, in a web-based attack scenario, an attacker could host a specially crafted website that is designed to exploit the vulnerability through Internet Explorer

Yeah, well I only visit well-known websites, like BBC, Youtube, mainstream sports sites, etc. So, which website could host such malicious code? Github? Google?

Also, not sure but they seem to imply that the first vulnerability works exclusively through IE?
>>
>>53653833
And they're trying to achieve what? Annoy you? Steal your porn collection? I don't keep any important data on a PC, like credit cards information or shit like that. So, for all I care, I just wipe the drive and reinstall if shit hits the fan.

>Windows GDI32.dll ASLR Bypass Vulnerability

Wait a sec, so basically that vulnerability only works if you download a file and open it, right? Shit, nigga, it's even easier. You don't download that shit. Simple. A website cannot modify instructions running in your RAM. You need to open that file for this to happen. Your mistake if you do so.
