They backported the botnet to earlier versions of Windows. There's no escaping the botnet if you use Windows, plain and simple. Either accept that Microsoft wants you to use 10, or use an OS that isn't a fucking botnet like GNU or *BSD.

You can try to rationalize it but you're still helpless and owned. The best thing you can do for yourself is take back control of your computer and install linux/GNU/BSD. There are many guides to help you transition and /flt/ is suprisingly helpful.

Where are they? I don't see them. I've been running 8.1 for more than a year now and never ever even had to reinstall, let alone fix anything. It runs like a champ every day. How about no malware or security issue can affect you if you don't install random shit on your rig and don't use any shady software. What the fuck are they going to do, ddos your IP? The ISP will block them after a while, if so. Literally nothing can happen to you if you know what you're doing. Security updates are for normies who don't know shit about what they're doing, so they need to be handheld at every move they make.
So, how does lacking their latest security update make my rig open to anything? Via the browser? The router? Just by browsing a web page you think the html/css/js soup will magically install malware and make me part of a botnet?
