for 1 week, would you rather have 150kbps average, that will ocassionaly disconnect for 10-30 seconds (about every 10 minutes give or take), or have dial-up connection (~40-55 kbps)?

I've been through much worse.
in the 90s, my line quality was so shit my computer reported that I was connected at 0.3kbps at all times.

The former. Crappy family modem used to overheat every half hour leading to a disconnection and having to reset it by cutting power and letting it cool.

Dialup, when i was a poor college student I used my unlimited internet plan on nextel to tether to my phone at 56k
it was painfully slow, but reliable

40kbps, mang. Could at least live vicariously through SSH. 150kbps is not enough for d/c friendly activities like youtube/netflix.
