They are absolutely embarrassing.
Because if you'rte on a budget, you go for the good components, and not for the best-looking case. The cases are already pretty expansive, and seeing as there are no real improvements when it comes to the speed or power of the computer. So most people would rather spend that 100$ on buying a better processor or graphics card.
I don't know but i hate that shit, the stupid lights and shit make it look awful.
I have thought about building a gaming rig in an IBM server case or a pro workstation case
you can get them cheap on ebay, but i think i would have to not just gut it but remover the fasteners and somehow install new mount points for a regular style mobo etc..
I have also thought about building a game rig in pic related just because I think it's a classy case (but i dont run osx) and they are kind of retro as they are not made any more

I don`t get this. What outside of size and amount of fans you attach to the thing can improve airflow? Cable management is possible in any case if you git gud.

And it's also inefficient as fuck. It varies depending on hardware you're using, but generally you'd want an intake fan lined up with your CPU heatsink, and one pointed at your GPU. Side intake might knock off a a degree or two as it's closer to your GPU than front intake, but it's going to be a whole lot more noisy since it's pulling against a grill. Just blowing air around in a case randomly just makes it noisier than necessary without much benefit.

Corsair carbide air 540, I couldn't find a more beautiful, non rice, simple case. I also like the psu and optical drive separation. And yeah that's the fury x.

Airflow is overrated anyway.
You can get non-space heater setups running within the specified temperature range for most any GPU in just about any case you come across. It's all a matter of the fan speed.
Sound can be an issue, but there are again a variety of ways of approaching the issue.
For me I'm a lazy shit and simply stick a blower card in whatever case and be done with it.

Because shitty case demand floods the case market with shitty ones. I own a Rosewill Armor Evo, given the prices, features, etc. that other cases had, this was the best decision. There aren't' a lot of good cases. Rosewill, NZXT, and Corsair tend to make the best cases that aren't ricer.

Interesting you mentioned that as I didn't favor the n400. I worked at a computer store doing system builds and wasn't a fan of something about it.Maybe the rear side fans, or just the general size. I looked back at it and it's a great case so I'm unsure what I didn't like about it.
that picture shows the N200 which for a mini tower is awesome. I can take everything of it and only the base frame has rivets, everything else was screwed in. There is a little rear compartment for one or two ssd's on the backside of it, which when z77/87 were still new, was great because msata/m.2 wasn't a thing yet.

Only thing I hate about it is the drive bays pointing out to the side so you have to bend the cables pretty hard even if I do get perpendicular SATA connectors since the drives are still right on top of each other.
I used to be all "1337 h4x0r comptuer ric3 case" with windows, neon lights and water cooling when I was younger.
Now I have a medium sized cheap windowless ATX tower with a crap ton of sound proofing material I lined myself and only 2 of the most quiet 120mm fans I could buy (one intake, one exhaust). I use the stock CPU cooler as well. However, I dumped about $3000 into the actual components.
I guess I am getting more mature with age and experience.
