Too expensive.

I've been using Windows since early 2000 up until now. Just recently switched to OSX.

It took me nothing to learn how to use it. It's not that difficult, it's not that different. Your baby duck syndrome is absurd.

He's mad that his macbook can't do something, so he's making fun of that something. It's macfaggotry 101, if an Apple product doesn't allow for something, then that something isn't worth having. Until the day that Apple finally implements it, and on that day Apple invented it. See: >4.5" phones.

>repair a laptop

Dell has done that for me and I didn't have to leave home thanks to on-site CompleteCare warranty service that came as part of the purchase price - I didn't have to purchase some bullshit service plan that is added on top of the purchase price of the hardware.

Paying more for a warranty that requires you to take the hardware into one of their stores or ship it someplace = I don't fucking think so.

hah, that's actually kinda funny. the screen and the keyboard are the only parts of my 2011 MBP that are still original.

The charging port went in its first year, taking enough of the motherboard with it that this needed swapping. In the second year of ownership, the graphics card suffered from some known problem that this particular gen of mbp that caused it to freak out, and needed swapping.

A few of the battery cells flat out died last year, and got swapped out. This year I bought it a replacement larger SSD for my b'day since the one I got it with was only 128GB, and whilst I was in there my flatmate gave me some more ram.

I've melted two of the rubber feet off this thing just running intensive-ish matlab code. It runs great, but it's probably a lie to say it's the same one I started with 5 years ago.

ive got a 2011 15". the sd card reader stopped working after 3 uses, now cards dont insert or detect and all it does is scratch the shit out of the leads on the card.

i sometimes get just complete fucking static and a blinking screen when plugging in to an external monitor

if the thing goes into hibernation (not sleep), like if the battery runs too low, when it wakes back up again the trackpad and keyboard wont work. not even plugging in an external one will get it to respond and i have to hard shut down the machine

i used to have it render video for work under full load for 7 hours a day. the thing would sit at 100* all day long but nothing seems to have been effected by the heat

otherwise, i spent $2300 on this thing. worth it? meh

yeah mine's a 2011 15"

go to your local apple shop and bitch publicly until they fix all that shit.

when my charging port blew up, it took the charger with it (which are like £60 or something stupid), and they didn't want to give me a new one. I just complained loudly until someone ran into the back and gave me one to shut up. Their hardware is apparently slightly shoddy, but at least all the fixes were free.

Running the laptop at 90 degrees or so for long periods of time doesn't appear to have done any lasting damage (other than the feet melting off), but it's not exactly the same laptop I started with, so how would I know?

The point is that OS X overhauled pretty much everything, long after Windows had already solidified the basis for their User Experience which is still used today. Even Microsoft can't change it anymore. They nailed it so hard people refuse to use anything else.
>>
>>53517804
First, ask yourself why those part needed replacing if the product was so good to start with?

Second, know that the second your warranty expires they won't help you at all. Unless it is to buy a newer model, in which case they will help you buy the most expensive one they have.

Macbooks honestly aren't bad laptops, they're bretty gud if anything, though I've got my Linux installs so sorted out to my liking after all this time that I find it more comfy then OS X.

The terrible thing about them is that your everyday bog-standard middle-class person tends to get one and then thinks he's now king of the shitheap, and believe me, it's fucking unbearable to be around these people when they act like that.

I have a legitimate need for a portable-workstation class laptop with half-decent Linux support due to my choice of university major, so I've been going through such laptops and recently upgraded (Dell Precision 5510). With the specs I chose it's a lot more expensive than the baseline MBP, but I don't go around acting like I'm richer than anyone else because of it. I can handle it being a couple millimeter thicker and a few grams heavier than an MBP, so I use it for everyday shit on-the-go too. If I just wanted a laptop for nothing other than typical prosumer needs, I would have just gotten an MBP and saved the cash.
