XTerm/OpenBSD(322)
But hey, just the vt200-like console is fine too. Only problem is you have to set TERM to like wsvt25 or something to get color.

Btw what's the difference between UXTerm and XTerm? I can see none.

On Mac, iTerm. On Linux, the KDE one usually unless it's a low power computer, then I'd use one the rxvt forks.

It's the same program with different settings.
On my system, uxterm is just a wrapper shell script.

there is something wrong with them?

Guake.

Yes, it's always constantly running in the background, but it has tons of options, pressing F12 to open it instantly, and close it is awesome.

Look at your processes (ps).
You can also look at what your TERM related variables is set to (set | grep -i term).
>>
>>53454555
With the typical machine today, you could probably just run Quake 1 in the background always, and not really tell the difference.
It would be interesting to do that and use its terminal for shell. It would probably require hacking the code a bit (I mean not just quake-c, but engine itself).

All of these are using the same two or three emulators on the back, so you guys are really just picking between different GUI wrappers.
>>
>>53454738
wasn't already a thing a system monitor where you can literally kill processes?
a doom fork or something, I don't remember

This is a purely speculative statement

Yeah, someone made that a bit after the Doom source code was released:
http://cs.unm.edu/~dlchao/flake/doom/
But it just lets you walk around and kill your processes. There's no terminal like in Quake.
>>
>>53455148
it's funny as shit how monster in-fighting can cause processes to randomly die
