XP is a teletubbyfied pander-fest that introduced a ton of garbage that broke consistency and made everything look like shit to please teenagers and soccer moms

Windows and Microsoft products in general make me sick, they're pig disgusting designed, obviously designed by programmers and not artists. Graphic artists should be in charge of design and programmers should figure out how the fuck to make it work in the back end. This is why Apple has been successful, design first, make the programmers sweat it out trying to figure out how to make the artists' vision functional after. People shit on Steve Jobs for not being a programmer, but that's what made him good for Apple. He didn't give a fuck what was possible, Jony Ive's designs come first, let the programmers figure it out after.

I recieved an old prebuilt with XP. What can I do to remove any viruses and shit? Would malware bytes work good? Also, would a clean install be any good?
>>
>>53105703
Wipe it, and I'd recommend installing windows XP sp 1

It looked like a fucking kid's toy with the default theme.

You want professional and elegant?
Look no further than Windows 2000 (and later 7).

OK, after I wipe would malwarebytes be good?
And why SP1?

The Windows XP was the last OS with consistent GUI (more so if classic theme was used).
After XP, Windows lost the only thing that distinguished it from other operating systems.
>>
>>53106214
Of course it is. It hasn't had any security updates in years.
>>
>>53105993
I'm on LTS. Upgrade every 2 years is pretty much perfect unless you get your jollies off fucking around with your OS (as opposed to using your computer for something useful).

Win2k was my favorite Windows version. Classic UI, rock solid, less bloat than Windows 8 or 10.

I hate this Windows 10 shit. If I want to change settings I have to go into this half ass Settings "app". Half the shit you need to change isn't even in Settings, and you need to search for the fucking Control Panel. I want the classic Control Panel back, and I want all my settings there.

Wanting to have an UI you can use on desktops, laptops and phones. The stupidest idea ever, because there can't be optimization if it all looks the same, in any environment.

Yes, it was Microsoft's attempt to copy and beat to market what Canonical was doing with Ubuntu running on mobile (which could be used as a desktop OS when attached to a dock).

Trouble with Microsoft is they always, ALWAYS fuck it up without question.

>>

Vista´s explorer was god tier

8 and 10 have some useful shit like folder and iso mounting, but the search and tagging interface in Vista was perfect.
>>
>>53109833
Windows XP is the superior Microsoft OS. It's fast (running decent on 128MB of RAM, and runs wonderfully on 512MB), and it's very user friendly. Vista is a resource hog (anyone remember Windows 95? Yeah...), needing at least 1GB of RAM to run smoothly. 512MB runs fine, but does run as a slow XP would, and that's terrible.
>>
>>53110266
yeah, I made a vm with 256 of ram to do all my shit on XP.

works flawlessly, sure, my i5 helps with the stability, but still not even my phone boots with 256 of ram, let alone do html5 browsing, youtube, office and drawing like I can on

also, the royale noir theme is god tier.
>>
>>53106491

A couple of things that bug me about 2000:

- Forced Windows Media Player integration in Explorer. It automatically loads itself if you highlight any media files. XP fortunately dropped the feature.

- System tray icons support up to 256 colors. Your icons are going to look like shit.
>>
>>53105441
What do you expect when you ask an audience full of virgin 21 year old or younger? Excluding me of course, i've been using windows since windows 95 and i've had a satisfying amount of pussy so far.
>>
>>53105441
I do, and it was shit untill SP1.
It was too resource hungry for most computers at launch time. 128 MB of RAM barely sufficed to boot XP, while the same amount worked great for 98 or 2k.

>>
>>53110792

If I recall, there wasn't actually anything less resource-intensive about it. I believe MS simply removed features like games and accessories, but kept all the bloated and largely unnecessary services intact.
>>
>>53110853
The main thing is that you can control what windows components are installed, For example i do not install IE or windows messenger.

Only requires ~850MB of space.
>>
>>53110792

Have you tried Windows Thin PC? That is what I moved all my Win FLP machines to, even though they still get patches because they're on the Embedded kernel.
>>
>>53111200
Don't have keys for it.
>>
>>53104306
I really wish I could have Windows XP back. I don't want to use it since virusland and modern software isn't well supported. I guess I could write a bunch of software for Gnome to make it XP.
