Well, wine sure won't run DX 10 and 11 games. DX 9 support is iffy and 10/11 just don't exist at all yet. Even if you consider wine, Linux still has a limited selection of games.

It's not much responsibility at all. When you get a job you fill out a form indicating how much you want them to take. Let them take the maximum and you'll probably get a fat refund every Spring.
It gets more complicated when you have investments and stuff but if you find it overwhelming you can just go to H&R Block or something. I doubt you're making enough to warrant anything more complicated than that.
