Hey guys, I'm running a server on my computer, and people can't connect using my IP. I know other people do it because it's free, and I'm too poor to buy a domain.
My server is 223.176.132.116, port 8080, using nginx and node.
How do I make it so people can type that into their browser and connect?
You probably need to enable port forwarding on your router

port forwarding or configure a DMZ
I don't think you can just use port 8080, try forwarding another port (udp an tcp, idk if you need to forward both), and it's also possible that your router detects others as intruders, so you might need to set that up too. I had to do these when setting up a modded server for gta iv. And I guess you already know this, but don't forget to set up a static ip, and make sure you're actually running the server through the forwarded port.

this most likely
also, why are you in india?

DESIGNATED
It would also help if you could specify what sort of server you're trying to set up. And if it's for a game, it'd be better if you state which game it is for. If you're playing a pirated game, you might need to change up some settings so the server doesn't check if the users trying to join are logged in to steam or whatever.

DMZ is horrible idea, makes all your ports available to the internet, thus possibly vulnerable to all kinda of shit

Here is your reply.

Fuck anon, you know you don't have to post if you have nothing non-retarded to contribute, right?

I'm just doing my best to give newfags bad advice that looks like it could actually be useful, when it doesn't work they are less likely to come back.
