I hate to drag games shit into /g/ but can anybody explain what exactly is going on with steam right now?
People get a different user profile everytime they refresh and can look at all their account infos.

I don't know, i don't do any gaymen. My quess is that Valve did something to Steam and this is either on purpose or not on purpose.

It's a cache issue, normally pages are cached per user but they fucked that up apparently so you can see other people's page cache.

And this is why HTML caching is awful.

No idea, reports are saying its a mistake on Valves end but the fact it changes your account name to "for you" makes it suspicious.

Could it be the masked man?
>>
>>52053919
Oh that is a good explanation.
>>
>>52053959
It also means the best way to avoid getting haxed is to not use the steam website at all. So if you're logged in, don't even try to access it.

They fucked up caching.
The frontend (the thing your browser actually talks to when you browse to the site) is supposed to not serve cached pages for other users, but it is anyway.
So it's unlikely you'd be able to actually carry out actions as other users, but you can view it.
Your best defense is to not try to load any pages, since if you don't load anything it's not gonna cache anything.

>>52054142
It's not the first time they have made a major fuck-up, there was an instance where you clicked on a link in the chat while trading steam items with someone, and the other person used some exploit to get control of the trading window on your side i.e they stole all your hats.

>>

Yes.
In fact, as long as you didn't look at a particular page, nobody else would be able to see that page as you. Even if you did visit a page, but got someone else's instead, you should still be fine.

All of your information on steam was leaked for anyone to see, Paypal email, steam account email, steam account name, names of attached account, billing address, phone number, First name, Last name, last couple digits of your CC, Full purchase history , steam wallet info.
Basically valve went full retard. Steam guard did absolutely nothing.
>>
>>52054934
I clicked on "Shop" in the steam client once during this shit and it showed me some frenchie user account and everything was french, but I never clicked on the account details page

a-am I s-safe?
>>
>>52054934
Shit I hope no one sees my steam account name, I was 13 when I made it and it's really embarrassing

Oh yeah and also my email and CC, please don't steal those
>>
>>52054934
>All of your information on steam was leaked for anyone to see
No, it was leaked only if you SUCCESSFULLY accessed it (i.e. you actually got your own, not someone else's) and someone happened to get lucky and see it.
Even if everything got leaked, they still don't have the necessary info to fraudulently charge you money.
>>
>>52055003
voice of reason right here. glad this anon is around.
>>
>>52054934
steamguard isnt going to do shit when you are viewing someone else session you dingus
>>
>>52054988
We wont know how many or who was compromised for a while
>>52055003
I think the problem is deeper than just viewing cached pages, the accounts I saw allowed me to access all the information on them which leads me to believe that there was some sort of session ID mix up.
>>
>>52055003
feel free to post your full name, full address, email address, phone number and last 4 digits of your credit card if you don't believe there is any harm in it.
>>
>>52054853
what are you talking about? Tons of games have native Linux versions, like Arma 3, Bioshock infinite, saints row IV, both Hotline miamis, outlast and tons of classics like the baldurs gate games. I would probably give you more examples if steam wasn't down, because I am no gamer and dont know what the kids play these days.
>>
It's some advertising for winter sale and it seems to be working as everyone is logging in to check it out
>>
Funny how Steam Guard didn't do jack. False sense of security if I've ever seen one.

At any rate, if you use many online services, then it's safe to say that your data has been compromised at some point. You should always monitor your credit cards, credit reports, and bank statements.

In the last year, two services I use were compromised. The worst one was T-Mobile, since they leaked all info including credit cards and SSN. After that I decided to do a credit freeze, which isn't a perfect solution but it's better than nothing. Really everyone should look into freezing their credit so people can't take your 9 digit identity and freely take out a bunch of loans.

If a visual novel in it's definitive form contains porn and you don't want that porn, then what is the point?
It'd be like watching a movie with all the sex scenes removed, or a book with the sex scenes edited out.

Gaming is the most normal thing ever now.
It's the moe anime watching weeaboo faggots that are looked down upon by gamer manchildren and normal people alike.
