So you go to the computer lab every time you have to write a paper? Sounds very cuck-like
>>
>>51999796
Maybe if you're a humanities major.
>>
>>51999905

You're plying that even engineering majors don't go to the computer lab for anything intensive

>>

What's ssh? Or even having a half decent laptop?

If you legitimately have to go to a computer lab alot to do work and you have a laptop then your laptop is a piece of shit and a waste of money. You may as well have gotten no laptop at all.

My wife used a $350 chromebook. It is an hp 14" 4g LTE version with tmobile, she gets a free 200MB/month with no subscription

FREE? Nothing in this life is free
>>

>buying non upgradable hardware
You cuck ed me real good op....
>>
>>52000320
It is free, they have no info, the throttle her down to 3g speeds when she goes over and she gets notifications that say "for 4g please buy some data" then the next month it resets back to 200MB

She is rarely in a spot without wifi so she rarely needs to use the 4g but it's nice

You could argue that the initial $75 difference between the wifi and LTE versions would be the premium, but it's more than paid for itself
>>
I've only used ssh for a brief period of time. But would ssh be able to offload work on the remote computer?

For example, if I run a program in ssh that calculates "2+3", does it run on remote computer and the result is sent over the network? Or does the program forces use of local CPU task for that?
>>
>he calls college "university" to make himself feel more important

I remember like 5 or 6 years ago there was some campaign by some manlet to convince everyone to start calling it "university." What a bunch of faggots, the lot of you.
>>
>>52001089
It runs on the computer you're sshing into.
If you ssh into a server you have or something and install those programs, it's the server installing the programs for itself. You're just kind of looking into it doing that.
>>
>>52001239
Is there a way to offload such things in ssh? Or is another program needed for such things?
>>
>>51999796
If all you're looking for is a laptop that can connect to the internet, do work on, and is lightweight, it works.

I bought an hp tablet with 200mb free data monthly. It really is free, just like the kindle 3g data. All you have to do is register with an email.

It's great for the occasional place with no wifi. It's not LTE but it's still faster than 3G.

Or that terminal session, yes. But it's way more effective to use a program like "screen" which is on almost every Linux distro unless the sysadmin you have to deal with is a disaster.
>>
>>52001089
You are literally lookin at a remote terminal. The only thing that your local computer does is render the text that the shell session would normally output through something like stdout. Even X11 stuff is mostly done on the remote and you local X server just renders the rastered image (this is oversimplifying what X or wayland does)
>>
>>51999796
Jokes on you. I got a $200 Windows laptop with 12 hour battery and free office 365. All of the programs of Windows, and the cost and battery life of a Chromebook. Love it.

Though unfortunately it also has the storage of a Chromebook, but the SD card helps a lot.

BTW, its the Asus x205ta
