It is free, they have no info, the throttle her down to 3g speeds when she goes over and she gets notifications that say "for 4g please buy some data" then the next month it resets back to 200MB
She is rarely in a spot without wifi so she rarely needs to use the 4g but it's nice
You could argue that the initial $75 difference between the wifi and LTE versions would be the premium, but it's more than paid for itself
I've only used ssh for a brief period of time. But would ssh be able to offload work on the remote computer?
For example, if I run a program in ssh that calculates "2+3", does it run on remote computer and the result is sent over the network? Or does the program forces use of local CPU task for that?

I bought an hp tablet with 200mb free data monthly. It really is free, just like the kindle 3g data. All you have to do is register with an email.
It's great for the occasional place with no wifi. It's not LTE but it's still faster than 3G.

You are literally lookin at a remote terminal. The only thing that your local computer does is render the text that the shell session would normally output through something like stdout. Even X11 stuff is mostly done on the remote and you local X server just renders the rastered image (this is oversimplifying what X or wayland does)

Though unfortunately it also has the storage of a Chromebook, but the SD card helps a lot.
