How do i know a monitor is not shit?
I don't have a lot of money to spend but i do want a dual monitor setup. I'm currently using my 40' TV as a primary monitor and as you imagine that is not optimal.
What should i look for? I don't care for gaming memes even though i play CS:GO

I'm not looking for recommendations, i'm just asking about what factors i should consider whan buying a monitor.

It's sort of a meme now. Someone asks a question? >>>/wsr/

But i'm not asking for reviews or support.
I'm asking what makes a monitor shit or not shit.
Depending on what you want.
I think logicalincrements has a decent guide
It's a bit down to preference.
Do you want more picture quality? More refresh rate? Ultrawide? Curved? High resolution?

Does not need to be ultrawide or curved and i'm fine with 1080p. Picture quality and refresh rate should be decent but i don't need anythiing more than that.
What is a good refresh rate?

Dell or BENQ

120Hz will look really smooth. Especially if you want to put games beyond 60Hz.
Do you want TN or IPS?

120hz is sitting in the middle, though 200hz monitors are coming. Just way too expensive for now. Still, 120hz is pretty fucking good already and the cheapest you can find that's not 60. And definitely noticeable.

That is what i'm looking for. Thanks.
Also, IPS.

Personally I use the Acer 236HL.
It's cheap and effective. Only 60Hz though. You can get it at Best Buy for $130 USD if you're patient. It drops down to that price about once a month. Usually sits around $180.
Actually, what is better, Dual monitors or Ultrawide?

I'm using ultrawide and honestly it's pretty sweet.
However it has less support than dual monitor setups. A game like CS:GO has limited FoV so while it's going to look sweet everything around the sides seems a bit stretched out.
However watching a movie without the pesky black bars and some games that support it look just fucking amazing and it'll be hard for you to go back to 16:10 or 16:9.

I think i'm going for ultrawide because it looks better
