Is balanced audio a meme?
I have a passive speaker system, that is connected to an amp with unbalanced wires. Am I stuck with peasant audio quality?
What amp do you have?

Denon 520

Unbalanced is just more susceptible to noise.

For line level applications or long distance transmission? No.
For moving power over a 10 ft cable from your amp to your speaker? Yes.

Anon is right
Balanced cables for amp to speaker doesn't make much sense

My understanding you have more signal on unbalanced then on balanced. Be weary of power cables and sources around the cable when laying or mounting.

balanced = stereo
unbalanced = mono
you guys are jokes.

No. Balanced = mono that takes 3 wires. It adds noise cancellation.

Thanks anon. Yes, it is 10ft cable. It now seems that balanced only makes sense for very low power, like connecting mics, or 'line out' to active speakers. Noise is too weak to affect strong signal from amp to speakers.

and that's pretty much it yes
in your case anyways
>>51977503
balanced is for amp inputs from dacs not outputs to passive speakers

You can use it for passive speakers, but then you have to put a balun in front of it, which is just more distortion. Audiophools do this to feed their confirmation bias.
It makes sense if you're doing distribution for a store or restaurant.

pa speakers are normally powered for that reason.
