I have 4000 dollars to spend in a battlestation.

What should I buy /g/ ?
>>
Specs?
>>
Something actually worth $4000? Like a life coach, to help you out of your basement?
>>
>>51947563
Not my setup.

>>51947571
I'm a student, I'm gonna live in a basement for the next 5 years anyway.

Dildo collection
>>
Are you starting from scratch or do you have some things (desk, chair, any peripherals)?
>>
>>51947806
No I have nothing.
>>
With that amount of money you might as well wait for Asus to release their 144 Hz 21:9 monitor
>>
>>51947838
I'd say find a desk on craigslist or at ikea or something for fairly cheap. Get a good comfortable chair that will last a while. Get two name brand 1440 monitor like asus (~$400-500 ea). Find a mouse you like and a mechanical keyboard. Get some decent headphones for $100-200 or so. For the rest of your budget go to logicalincrements and use that as your starting point for the computer.
>>
>>51947532
How much space do you have?
what will you do?
>>
>>51947532
>destiny poster
>logitech speakers
>graphics card mounted above pc like its art
>incredibly bright blue followed by retina burning blue accent lights
op your picture is the worst thing i have ever seen, the fact that you've posted it confirms that you are going to waste 4 grand playing video games and drop out of college.
i could tell you what a vagina feels like for 4 grand doe.
>>
>>51947917
hahaha 400-500 each for a 1440p monitor? It's people like you that give these tech companies enough profit to discount their products for people like me.

OP if you hunt around you can find 1440p monitors for exactly half of what this anon is quoting you.
>>
>>51947917
You'd be better off making your own desk. You can make a good one and make it to your own specs for cheap.
>>
>>51947532
4k seems like a lot of cash.
it isnt. Spend smart and you'll have an awesome battlestation. Dont and you'll have a bunch of good components in a shitty space.
>>
>>51948121
Sure, if you like glossy plastics and TN colors or drafty IPS corner glow then be my guest and take a chance on the spinning wheel of budget monitors.
>>
>>51948069
You didn't comment on the

Those teeny tiny Logitech speakers being mounted so well is hilarious.
>>
Here you go anon

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4fkMzy

plenty left over for new glass desk and comfy chair, as well as what ever gaymin mouse and keyboard shit you want.

ikea is good for chair and desk, go there.
>>
Spend all of it on a single AMD Firepro w9100

then save again and buy a second one

then buy a xeon

why settle for mediocrity

Do people actually still buy glass desks because they think they're cool? What year do they think it is?
>>
>>51948284
>filename
Please don't tell me that those speakers hit the resonant frequency of this desk
>>

>logitech speakers
They make some that sound decent.
The ones with the sub sound pretty okay. (Z623 and Z9something)
The others like the OP are junk.
>bright blue
It's the camera being shit

But then again you missed other stuff
>low quality office chair
>particle board desk
>razer mouse
>window on desk to see what you're typing

That's a decent setup made up of low-end shit.

So, OP, here's what you do:

1. Check out failed business selling office equipment. Height-adjustible desks with metal legs and non-shit surfaces are to be found here. Avoid Glass desks. The main thing that should be of concern is the Size and the actual frame of the desk, the surface can be customized after the fact.

Also so are good ergonomic chairs. Good chairs usually have more than 1 lever or have a fat lever with extra functions. Stay away from chairs with a single thin lever. Those have mechanisms that will break in a year and wont be much comfy.
Steelcase, Herman Miller, Humanscale are some names to look out as corporations usually buy overpriced equipment to fill a budget. It's recommended to go to a store that sells a new version of the model and try it out.
If the notion of buying a used chair disgusts you remember you can take it to the cleaner's.

2.Assembling your setup : Check your local craigslist for things that seem like a decent deal. I know it's full of good value shit after people decided they were far too consumerist. Don't be afraid of components that are a generation old. LGA2011 and LGA2011v3 are your friends.

3. Get cable channels like the pic in the OP. those are real useful when you realize what a mess your battlestation will be if you leave them.

4. Used speakers and headphones with new or chemically cleaned pads/filters. Do it.

5. Check used monitor shops. I found Eizo SX3031Ws for 200 euros a pop. I got 2. These monitors are fucking magical for that price.

6. Don't rush it.
>>
Save your money for now. Wait for VR headsets to be available and make your decision then, on a few months. You'll also likely have lower prices on parts after the holiday season anyway.

I'd rather bet on the weight exceeding desk specs. There seem to be at least 2 monitors and a tube amp on the desk (you can actually see the tubes poking out on top). I think there was something on the left side of the desk too, behind the keyboard, but it's hard to see.

Seriously tho, if someone really wants a glass surface, just put a sheet of glass it over a wooden table.
>>
>>51948133
Picking up a used desk is the way to go, I got mine for $10 from craigslist and its just a metal frame with a wood top and 2 drawers, large enough for anything and I can always change the wood top out for something new.
>>
>>51948459
That would make more sense, but the filename implies it had something do with audio

>>
>>51948550
No, the filename is just saying his super expensive audio setup is snake oil
Could've maybe worded it a bit better, but whatever

If you're wondering why, it's because tube amps don't produce "clearer sound" like audiofags tend to claim, they give the sound a warm tone. Literally the same thing can be achieved by fiddling a bit with the EQ, but then he couldn't brag about his super expensive setup.

Get a desk meant for standing, standing is better for your health than sitting, no matter what these basement dwellers claim.

Does your major have anything to do with high-end graphics?
Yes: Spend $2000 max
No: Get a decent laptop and save your god damn money.
