I've cleaned up the dangley cables in the first picture and also reran the front i/o cables in the second picture since I took these photos.

Does anyone have recommendations for 80mm dust filters? I've looked on many sites but they all have zero reviews, or looks unbelievably cheap. I really need to get some for my rear mounts. Might be buying some fans soon so I'll definitely need them then.

Case?
>>
>>51930154
Almost this. Take a bath, add a small amount of solvent to it, or a soap that's designed to avoid leaving residues. Let it sit in there for a day. Wash off with clean running water. Leave to dry for 1 week in a ventilated environment (stick a room fan next to it, you need flowing air).
>>
>>51932860
bath of water*
>>
>>51930432
Had to do soft tubing. It's a matx case.

I keep the lights off most of the time anyways, they help me see things when I need to.
>>
>>51932860
Don't let it sit for a day, contacts may corrode.

Don't stick a fan next to it, dist will stick to the thing when it's wet.

Gently wipe it down, let it dry for a day or two, and then use a hair dryer, not on the high setting, and dry it. Take you time, and spend time drying it. Then let it dry for another 2 days or so.

If you can get a clean environment constant ventilation really is better, also to stop large deposits of residue forming in unreachable areas. If you have access to a filtered enclosure use that and keep the air flowing.

actually both of the mobo fans have been removed, I bought it because my z97 asus-e shit out on me and I wanted a mobo as black as possible, this fit the build so I went for it. pretty happy with it actually. other than the looks I wanted something with a solid warranty and this had a 5 year.
>>
>>51941925
The case aint massive, and the stock config fits something like 6 3.5" HDD's without modification, or quite a lot of 2.5" HDD's, and then theres room in the two 5.25" bays to convert for more HDD's or SSD's, you could use the silverstone bay device that allows a slim slot loader ODD and 4x 2.5" drives to fit into one 5.25" bays...if you used your brain for anything other than shit posting, you could come up with solutions.

I don't get why some people sli/crossfire outdated gpus instead of selling the one they have and buying something newer. 2 gigs of vram is not acceptable anymore, unless you only want to play cs:go at 144fps, and other light games at high fps.
>>
>>51944668
Very few games uses beyond 2gb, and those that do the two 7870s won't be able to handle it at decent settings anyways, so it's forced to run at lower setting thus lower vram usage.
>>
>>51944708
>Very few games uses beyond 2gb
Any AAA game released since January 2015 will easily use more than 2gb.
>and those that do the two 7870s won't be able to handle it at decent settings anyways
Well why not just get a 390/970 m8? More vram + more performance + less issues + less heat.

Lian Li PC-7HX, full aluminium case which makes it unbelievable light. (Especially compared to my previous case, Antec P182)

What does /dgt/ think of me putting a Noctua nh-d15 in here?
>>
>>51950120

That it probably won't fit.

Going to get myself an early christmas present with a new psu, can't handle the spaghetti anymore
>>
>>51950138
Oh but it does, barely
>>
>>51950155

Well it should outperform a 120mm radiator unit but it raises another question - what sort of mini ITX board can take the sort of power draw and clocks a D15 is built to handle?
>>
>>51950169
>what sort of mini ITX board can take the sort of power draw and clocks a D15 is built to handle?
It's a 4690
I just like filling the case up :^)
The stupid AIO is the loudest thing in the case by far
>>
>>51950190

Get the dark rock pro 3 instead - it won't beat a D15 for cooling but 1) locked cpu and 2) it will beat it for noise.
>>
>>51950238
Interesting cooler indeed
I do like Noctua's handholding though
How much difference in performance?
>>
>>51950389

For a cpu that can't be overclocked? Virtually none. Hell the 4790 has a TDP of 90w iirc - you could pooooooossibly bolt in a le grand macho (its a thing) and have it passively cooled.

That case has vents specifically for the GPU
A well planned mITX build doesn't have to be loud or hot.
>>
>>51950641

I'm not questioning any of that, but those blower coolers are not known for silence given they are only 80mm or so fans often trying to cool 180w+ TDP parts and the only way that works is by having a screaming fan.
>>
>>51950685
I thought the nvidia reference coolers weren't as bad as AMD's

They both use the same fundamental design. In the context you are referring to it just so happens AMD had a very hot card with a very conservative fan curve to cool hawaii chips (the only reference 300 series cards are review samples, fury x and nano).

If you go back a generation and look at the 7970/680 the coolers' noise profiles arem uch closer.

>That shitty GPU
>Chieftec PSU

Why do you have that powerful CPU?
>>
>>51950792
This never made sense to me since it's aimed at having multiple cards in your system. Heating your case isn't much of a problem as they'd like you to believe.
>>
>>51950685
It's a 960 that I bought stupid cheap from a friend.

It's a LAN build that I'm planning to sneak into work next week since half the office is taking the whole week off.

I'll get a speccy up eventually, but it's an old H67 board with so-dimm ram modules.
>>
>>51950828
Maybe it's a OEM design PSU
Mine is a Chieftec PSU but it's literally a rebadged PSU that Silverstone also uses and is rated pretty fucking high

>>
>>51926418

Wow how the fuck does that upper GPU stay cool? What a garbage rig.
>>
>>51950829

Those blower fans are mostly a server design really - where there will be additional cooling provided by high(er) powered case fans. The only reason i'd by a reference cooler gpu is to rip the cooler off and replace it.

>>51950847

>960

Ehhh good enough I suppose. Still any dual fan cooler would do a better job for quieter.

Pepper your angus for a disappointment, twin 7870s won't really step up the graphics performance at all. Most of the time everything is so badly optimized that you're getting LESS frames per second. Disabling crossfire takes it up again. I've tried it with a 7870 and R9 270X (okay, a longshot, kept crashing) and two identical R9 280s. Latter one with two different mobo/cpu/ram combos. Gave up and got an R9 390X, which just werks©.
>>
>>51944451
>>51944451
Crossfire/sli is a meme anyway
>>
Is it just me or are all of these "tool-less" cases shit? I have fucking tools, I'd rather mount my shit with proper screws. Who doesn't have a damn screwdriver?
>>
>>51951014

Fun fact: a 290x is roughly on par to 7870 crossfire for raw gpu grunt, but naturally has twice the vram.

>>51951059

Define R5 says u r a faget.
>>
>>51951059

Having had both, I just don't see why having proper screws is so neat. I honestly am entirely indifferent.

>>>Chieftec PSU
chieftec isn't so bad. they were really popular in europe few years ago, and their higher lines were actually good.
also it's 8 years old, lived through few major build changes and is still going strong. i'm replacing it in week or two, but only because i want something modular and semi-passive, with a bit longer cables (this one was supposed to be top mounted so cables are a bit short for bottom mount) with one +12 line (this one got 3, strongest being for cpu) and newer set of connectors (can't really connect any modern gpu to it w/o adapters, dont really want to risk connecting 300W housefire to it either).

>>That shitty GPU
>Why do you have that powerful CPU?
started upgrade like a month ago, didnt wan't to spend huge amount of money all at once so decided to split it.
first part was case+mobo+cpu+cooler, reused ram, psu, gpu, hdd/ssd
getting new psu in week or two, prolly evga g2 750 (overkill a little but i dont want to cheap out on psu)

as for gpu - 7790 is still enough for me for now, at least for games i play mostly - csgo and tera online (which is cpu heavy). i plan to upgrade it in a month or two, thinking about sapphire r9 390. not sure if i do that or just wait, as gpu isn't really limiting me atm. might just wait for pascal/arctic islands.
managed to play dying light on this gpu (and i3 3220 as my old cpu) with settings turned down so i guess it's not THAT shitty
