On my desk i have an ips panel and a tn panel with approx same pixel density, both properly calibrated, the ips is significantly more pleasant

Some IPS are good. Good IPSs for quality are the new dell 5k and the ibm t221 (contrast is bad but has the best color accuracy of any consumer monitor ever made)
