Coalgirls overall isn't bad, it's really only one of two of their encoders that are terrible. Mostly Tenshi. He doesn't really encode anime other than setting it to 10bit, and therefore in order to make his shit look acceptable he has to use really low crf. If the source is crappy he does no filtering.

UTW, FFF, ANE, Mezashite, Commie, and underwater (Daiz) are the best. Some older groups like WhyNot and gg are good, but gg is notorious for using shitty translations.
Coalgirls is mostly acceptable besides Tenshi, and you can easily tell what encodes are his because they're 20-50 GB larger than other encodes. Their only real issue is sometimes they use modified retail subs, which are shit. Especially ones from funi.

It's not on AB because he isn't done with it yet. If I remember from /a/ he's denoising them a bit so the filesizes are more managable. I think the current sephirotic release is pretty good, at least from screenshots I've seen, but I think I'm gonna wait for some more 2D4U comparisons before I decide which one to download for archive purposes. So far I'm leaning 2D4U because I'm not a fan of lots of grain and it doesn't look like denoising is killing detail.

AB doesn't remove torrents for quality purposes. It's an archive site, they take any encode you upload. This wouldn't really be an issue if they required mediainfo + screenshots.
