Every day I spend with my rMBP i find even more stupid shit like this

i use windows linux and osx, but osx by far is THE worst file manager in existence.

you have to command+option V to cut and paste. stupid? yes, but osx is made for people who are too dumb to figure out right clicking from left clicking so i guess consider yourself lucky they even allow it at all

It produces exactly the same outcome. The difference is that you can decide whether to move/insert at the end, and not at the beginning of the operation.

>>51409102
Windows doesn't select files by dragging them into the file picker dialogue, it copies them instead which is utterly useless. If you have a file open you can't easily upload it without having to navigate to the file for a second time like on any other system, which is very annoying. Also lacks file tagging and tabs, can't display gif/pdf previews in the file selection dialogue and probably even more I can't remember right now.

It's because you're not used to it. I've been using OSX since 2003 and it's absolutely effortless to move stuff using drag-and-drop because I'm used to all the timings of how long to hover over folders before they open automatically, etc. It's the same as when I use windows and it feels like a UX disaster but it's actually just me being an idiot.

That is not at all useless.
If you have something saved on your desktop and you want to open it in photoshop or something and also move it into your project folder which is like 10 layers deep in some network folder (but photoshop open there by default cos it was the last place you opened a file) you can copy/cut paste it in without any fucking about. The file picker is full file manager and that's very usefu for moving shit around in the context of an applications working directory
Also windows has a url bar with the path in it, you drag and drop a file there and you select the file or navigate to the folder.

OSX does cut and past. Just hold option down and "paste" turns to "move". it's actually a genius reinvention of the concept. I find that rather inaccurate. It should be:

Windows: Hard to figure out the GUI, and nothing works enough to actually do anything.

OSX: What does Apple want you to do?

I find that rather inaccurate. It should be:

Linux: Do whatever you want, but no one has put in any effort and the GUI is just a OSX clone these days with the same limited system control settings. Mostly doesn't matter though since only idiots use a GUI with linux.

Windows: GUI is a convoluted mess and a joke since 8, but a 10 orders of magnitudes more advanced than anything else past/present/future, if you remember where everything is, anything is doable and just as importantly trainable for non-technical clients.

OSX: Fuck you. Keep consuming.
