He didn't avoid the question because it was never directed at him. Either way some people like to play around on old hardware running old OSes for various reasons. Nostalgia is a big one, ricing using old themes, playing old games that don't work well on new versions of Windows, etc.
In this case his computer has a very unique CPU. Transmeta is even more obscure than VIA when it comes to x86 processors.

SSH via PuTTY is doable, it has a PC card slot and a couple USB ports. I'm thinking a bluetooth dongle of some manner and whatever OBD software still supports XP will come in handy after I drop a CF card in the thing for the hard drive.
but that'd be after spending ~$70 on shit it needs. more RAM, an extended battery, and a modular bay battery. with those, expected battery life is going to be somewhere around 10 hours.
at this point in time it's totally not worth wasting that money on it though. maybe after christmas. the original battery still holds a 20 minute charge so it does have that going for it. maybe I'll just re-pack the battery I have on the cheap.
