OP is overlooking the fact that the MacBook is 15.6 inches while the surface book is only 13.3 inches. Smaller laptops have always been more expensive for the same specs.

But they are both amazing laptops.
Without the stupid convertible shit and the useless touch features (who cares, really?) the Surface Pro would be a pretty great laptop. The way it is now, it's not particularly bad either, but it has a bunch of features I don't need plus I suspect that the hinge and detachable screen will be the cause of a lot of problems (mechanical, dust, the usual stuff with overcomplicated solutions like that). Also it doesn't close properly, thus takes up a lot more space than needed. I know it's nothing that I've ever done with any laptop before, but whenever I see it with lid closed I imagine someone stomping on it. It looks so fragile, completely unnecessarily too.
