if it doesn't use PoetteringSoft PulseAudio it's gonna be a bitch to use. Recompile your system with the pulseaudio USE flag enabled.

In reality, OP likely just disabled his audio and doesnt remember how to enable it. Or its some pulseaudio bug. Because you know the audio stack is not distro specific, even Ubuntu uses PA.
PS: Still better than Alsa, Alsa fags
