Not really. Since you can design machines to have pretty much just about any shape you want them to and you have to account for construction and reparation costs as well as social impact it's generally not very practical to create androids until the tech for it is immensely evolved.
As versatile as the human form is we simply have plenty of infrastructure already that makes it obsolete in one way or another. For your example, a world with affordable androids would also have good communications and delivery services that would render the notion of sending an android pick up stuff ridiculous.
I could see things like androids being made to work as nurses in elderly houses and such, but if we actually bothered to make them it would be primarily to fuck them; maybe with the actual challenge of making them properly also up there in the designer's side.
