give me one good reason why you would use any other distro than ubuntu
Unity is ugly.

Unity a shit
Mint with Cinnamon is better

>>45497234
>amazon?
can be turned off
>systemd?
doesn't matter to 99.9% of users
>>45497193
ubuntu is bloated, unreliable, and not a rolling release
>>45497215
Debian with Cinnamon is good. Mint is just a joke.
>>45497257
>implying there is a practical difference
>>45497257
Why is it a joke?
>>45497193
because im not enough of a retard to need a fucking one click install for an operating system
>>45497193
Because Xubuntu is Ubuntu without the bloat and with XFCE.
>>45497285
>hurr durr I don't want something to just werk
>>45497285
it's not about requiring it
it's just about disliking extra work
>>45497269
>can't see the practical difference between babby's first Linux and the universal operating system
>>45497293
XFCE has a horrible tearing issue though.
>>45497285
>Putting more effort into achieving the same result makes me clever
Sysadmin here, the gold standard for OS deployment is to not need to click at all.
>>45497193
because win8.1 > dindubuntu
>>45497285
Fuck off, Archfag.
>>45497193
WHEN WILL YOU LINUX FAGGOTS LEARN
YOU NEED DIRECTX SUPPORT SO I CAN PLAY GAMES ON LINUX
THE ENTIRE PLANET WILL DROP WINDOWS OVERNIGHT
Well I will want Visual Studio on Linux as well...
>>45497345
>Visual Studio
IntelliJ is superior
they have a C/C++ version in the works too
>>45497320
If you have Intel graphics on your machine you can try compton, it works wonderfully, but only on Intel for some reason.
>>45497323
there are 4 computers in my bedroom along with a router
guess im a sysadmin too
>>45497362
>IntelliJ is superior
>>45497345
lol the guy on the right is wearing the terrorist casio watch
>>45497345
> DirectX
> Visual Studio
> Blames Linfags
ayyyyy its like you aint even trying.
Obviously, MS made multiple tries to port their tools to Linux, but we, the Lintards, did not accept that aweful behaviour, and thus, MS stopped porting their shit.
Fucking Linfags, I tell you!
>>45497375
Tried it on nvidia with proprietary drivers. It works too.
>>45497381
Yeah like fuck you are. If you want to play around with computers that's fine, it's how most of my coworkers started, but don't think you're clever because your computers aren't important enough to care about their downtime.

>>45497425
Companies use Ubuntu and derivatives whereas I never see anyone deploy Debian any more. It's either Ubuntu, RHEL or SLES
>>45497193
>>45497253
Good goyim. Sacrifice your freedom for convenience and give more shekels to Amazon.
>>45497451

Go away Staya
>>45497382
name one good reason to use microsoft bloatware
>>45497193
because vanilla Ubuntu uses the Unity DE, and it's a mess / in transition. use an Ubuntu flavour with a stable, cohesive DE, like Xubuntu (Xfce), Kubuntu (KDE), Ubuntu Studio (Xfce), Gnome Ubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, Cubuntu (Cinammon), or Lubuntu (when they finish switching to LXQt) until Unity is more ironed out.
Free and in freedom

mr bean <33333
Whole Saturday wasted on making this shit work. I just wanted to have an encrypted Ubuntu system on my external harddrive. Not with this piece of shit operating system I guess.
>>45497666
it isn't as retarded as intellij
>>45497253
>can be turned off
Doesn't matter, it's a matter of ethics. One of the key points that people use Linux for is privacy, and security. The fact that Canonical would even put that feature in there makes them untrustworthy.
>>45497323
>same result
sure m8 keep thinking that
>>45497805
Ah okay guys, turns out that this grub thing actually needs some space on the harddrive to be installed.
