I've got a 6600k running at 4.5GHz with 1.35V. However, it idles at 40 degrees with my Noctua NH-D15, where my ambient is around 20 degrees (room temperature). It is however quite silent, and I like it like this. Is this temperature safe / not harmful?

Do you know a program that lets you track the dialog window of a specific program directly in the RAM and generate an hex dump? I'm trying my best with Immunity Debugger but I can't figure it out yet.

I wanted to track this window by the way (see pic), because I don't read moon so I was trying to copy and paste the text in google translate.

I want to use it for other things in the future too not just this dialog window, so don't tell me to ask in >>>/int/jp because the translation is not my priority.

I've been on an annoying little hunt for the past hour or so, just trawling through the bowels of the internet testing ukranian forum DDL links and nearly dead torrents. But I finally found what I was looking for.

I decided to do it on an ubuntu live session. What are the chances something bad could have happened anyway? Whether to local files (even if the drives weren't mounted), or could someone have "hacked my internet" as dumb as that sounds.

Question: I have heard that scanning banknotes immediately send you to a site saying "don't scan banknotes, it's illegal".
Now, assuming this is a command launched from the scanner to the computer (idk if it is like so), could be possible to copy the command and use it to execute arbitrary code (so sending a bogus "u scanned money, fool" that instead of opening a web site caused the pc to upload a folder into a receiving server)?

I'm asking this because it seems like a huge vulnerability.

The actual dumb way they're doing it now is to fully render 2 roughly 720p screens.
>it means it does render it all
>even the corners of the screen
>no eye tracking rendering
>it renders also the distant objects twice while it's not necessary

So, not only rendering 4 screens is not exactly fit for your PC unless, maybe, you're both watching a 3D movie with it and just getting the feed twice .. i'm pretty sure almost no game actually exist supporting this. Also i'm not quite sure you have enough ports to do it anyway.

probably not. ideal 802.11n throughput is less than ideal usb 2.0 throughput. same goes for 802.11ac and usb 3.0. if you're using a usb 2.0 802.11ac adapter then MAYBE, but you won't notice it using the internet. you'd only notice when moving big files around on your network, like if you have a backup running or you stream high-res video or just copy/access files from another home computer.

Thanks anon. My router supports 300mbps, but the USB stick only goes up to 150, is that slowing down my connection?
>>
>>52364547
if you're trying to transfer things from one computer to another within the same network (e.g. 2 laptops in the apartment/house, 1 laptop and a desktop, maybe streaming something on your phone where the content is on your desktop but that's trickier to set up so not as likely), then it's possible 150mbps will yield a worse experience than 300mbps.

the issue comes down to what you're doing, honestly. if you're transferring files, speed equates to how quickly files actually get transferred over. if you're streaming HD video, it's possible you'll have to deal with buffering (but there would have to be extenuating circumstances for 150mbps to get saturated - like poor connectivity or simultaneous connections).

Rly? its mostly flash storage with both near the same max write cycles to me.
USB sticks have a Usb controller, a SD card has a SD controller, both connected to a NAND flash most of the time.

Manufactures SHOULD post datasheets about the devices, and you should figure it out.

after all, its just flashchips with a controller (like SSD's are also just NAND flashchips most of the time, just a bit more than 1 or 2 and the controller is made with cache and higher speeds support. and error checking like raid, but for NAND chips.

Guy building a PC here with another question. I managed to get the standoffs in place and the backplate thing for the connectors (pic related). How the hell do I connect the mobo to it? Am I supposed to bend those little things? Are they supposed to stick somewhere in the connectors? The videos I watched don't say or show anything and just say to screw the mobo, and I haven't found shit on the manual either.

What is a "semi-passive" cooling on a GPU ?
Is it reliable ?

I care more about perf than I do about db to be honest
>>
>>52365250 its tricky, but these things need to atleast "touch" the metal housing of their coresponding connectors. So best way is to move the motherboard in with the connector side first. Doing so, you will be "almost"easyly able to "move" most of the connectors under the these pins you talk about.

Others are just made to touch the bottom.
NO NEVER THEY DO NOT go in any connector. but you probabaly can practice a bit if you remove the shield and put it near the motherboard.

install shield again in case, then motherboard is best practise.

Alixpress has tons...

or get a few resistors, leds, transistors and build a "Unstable Multivibrator", get a 555 timer and search how to make it make a sound.

Blinky leds works nice with 555s too, solder on a board or "Bug style"

You don't bend anything. It's barely a shield and it only gently touches que exposed connectors. Btw if you ever need to bend or force anything in your computer, either you're doing it wrong by not pressing a button/unscrewing something or the thing is fucked up and you should stop and rethink your options.

I can get the mobo in position, the problem is that the keyboard connector has one of those metal things on the mobo itself and I can't keep it into position to screw the mobo in because it acts like a spring and I only have so many hands, so if I keep the mobo in position I can't screw it in.

I think its mainly from using a cheap iron in the past but I recall having problems getting the technique of iron and solder on opposite sides of the wire right, meaning having to put solder directly to iron with the result of solder everywhere and melting the board a little. btw, I hope its not a DSO138 ... because its a heap of shit. (build one... works... but the range is small and it cant see shit.) but a nice learning curve and looks "geeky"... also, software is old, you cant get the newest... unless you got it officialy... opensource one has bugs.
>>
>>52365541

There is nothing wrong with touching the solder to the iron. How the hell do you even melt the board?

Touch the solder to where you want it on the board. Iron lightly over the top of the solder.
>>
>>52365495
use 1 hand to push gently the board inplace, use other to screw.

(2 hands place the board near the shield, then remove 1 hand while other keeps mobo near position. Use last hand to push board in place (forcing the keybaord one) and use loose hand to screw)

Just do it. we believe in our selves.
>>
>>52365495
You should only need one hand to hold and one to screw. Basic problem solving and a hint of finesse. Figure it out, man.
>>
>>52365587
The solder would wick up the iron and not actually deposit on the board. The awkwardness just led to it taking long enough to get solder on on there that the board would start to warp. Nothing damaging, just ugly.

But maybe I will just go for it.

>>52365582
It is a DSO 138. I got a JYE and not a counterfeit, but I got the impression that it was at least decent. I'm not expecting anything on par with a proper one and theres no reason for me to drop $100-200 on a real one but the DSO138 does work, doesnt it?

The solder never wicks onto the iron. Maybe yours doesn't get hot enough?

Me wife is using our europe banknumber, I use my creditcard, and paypal is for pussys.

anyway, I know this is 4chan.... you can trust alipay. Maybe even more than/then ebay (im dutch, and it takes 2 to 3 weeks to arive)

You can ofcourse keep buying expensive america stuff. also, some sellers use the same name on ebay, so search for the products found on ali, on ebay ;)

DSO 138 has a VERY limited range it can measure. its .... audio level... digital is out of the question, old, new... they are tooo fast, even my old trusty NES or MSX2.

so, have fun listening to your audio, selfbuild ataripunk and 555 timer audio beeper. (could be exactly what you want...

Protip, find a maker/hackerspace.. they usealy have good scoops you can use for your projects needs. or go secondhand, over at EEVBLOG they tell you. atleast 50 bucks.
I got a 100Mhz analog duel channel for 70 and that fina old engineer even gave a complete explaination after I asked... felt like pro.

Still noob, but this DSO is fun to build... till your project is too fast or range too wide.

There are some performance mods, dont count on those, but DO enjoy... maybe you gonna improve it, using a borrod scoop ;)

Also, Alixpress isnt going to support paypal, cause paypal was owned by ebay, and that direct competition ! you see the problem? like MacOS officialy on a HP ? aint work that way.

in many countries they are selling trow away creditcards right? dunno if they work

I can't manage to extend my wifi.
I have:

Internet -> Modem/router (connected with wifi and ethernet to other pcs) -> router (connected with ethernet to other pcs but wifi doesn't work).

I can't fucking isolate the problem. The second router is completely transparent. Bridge mode, no nat, no firewall, no upnp, dhcp disabled.

First router is 192.168.1.1 and gives ips in the 192.168.1.100-200 range, the second router is 192.168.1.2. Subnet mask is the same for both of course.

There is connectivity on the second router, but not over wifi. Tried with same SSID, with different SSID, with either different channels or autoscan. I tried to lower the signal a bit so that they would not overlap at all in some areas of my home. I don't use wps.

It doesn't work and I can't get why. Wifi devices are assigned an ip and the wifi signal seems to be optimal, but nothing loads.

You're my last resort, /g/.
Or I'm buying a new one, it might as well just be broken.

Loudness depends mainly on the type of switches. Avoid those with a sound feedback like the cherry mx blue and similars you see in pic related. Other than that, I'm pretty sure they're equally loud once you press them all the way down.

Still see pic related for what you would feel better when typing. I personally have brown switches on a CM quickfire rapid-i and I find to be pretty great for what it costs, and has everything you require (minus the audio output, but I can't think of any having one). And of course you can choose a tenkeyless if you want more space / find the numpad useless.

Other good models are Filco's or Ducky's, a bit more expensive. They are one of the best when it comes to construction quality.
Other models which can be more expensive are more of a niche for those who like smaller keyboards or particular keycaps, even tho I'm not an expert. I'm not a full /mkg/ dude but I still agree with their advice to get a keyboard with a standard layout because being able to change keycaps in the future is a great option, even though you might not be interested in that now. So discard razer, corsair, those kind of things.
>>
>>52366521
Uncoil, hold, apply "warm" not hot. Then cold. While keeping uncoiled. ... After cooldown release... If fail, inner cables are twisted and the cable is fucked. Check warranty, buy new cable and solder. I think. I could be wrong... Never have this cause i take care of my stuff because people like you "borrow" my stuff

The first just didn't get detected. I already had it and it wasn't listed as compatible.
The second I bought just for it just stopped working after a few hours, a reboot fixes it, but it sucks having to restart it every now and then.
Apparently the driver crashed, but I'm not that much into linux to debug it myself.

Everyone says to use a powered USB hub with them because it doesn't have enough power, but what's the point of having a tiny computer that needs 5 extra devices and plugs to make it work.

Hey /g/.

I want to play shows from my computer on my TV without having to have my computer hooked up to my TV. What's the easiest way to go about this? I have an old early-2000s Toshiba CRT and a DVD player. I was thinking of just burning DVDs with the shows I want, but then I thought it'd be easier to get a DVD player with a USB port in it. However, most of those seem to only be able to handle MP4-type files or similar and I've got a lot of MKVs. Maybe some AVIs, too, but I'm away from my external so I can't check right now.

Anyway, easiest way to do that? Doesn't have to be the cheapest, but that'd help, too.

Right, of course, no worries. I solved that with my router, which supports two SSIDs. One I'm using for my own LAN, and the other I use for other purposes, like for when I have friends visiting over that just want Internet access.

So I changed the screen on my OnePlus two today. Thankfully, the screen works, but the flash and the rear-facing camera don't work. They are on different parts though, the flash is on the motherboard, but the camera is a separate module.
What could be causing this?

Were they the cheap 2$~ ones?
I have an extra 40$ one somewhere.
I ordered some random one suggested on the rpi forum.. it was more to ship it than the cost of the actual thing.

Then I'd suggest to buy a second router or access point. Sorry, mate.

is it possible that an *.mkv file can conatain virus or malware?
>>
>>52368213
Yes, like 4chan.hta BUT
you have to do something fucking stupid like remaining it to .exe
so not really a worry
>>
>>52368213
yes, file extensions don't say anything about the file, so it could be anything just renamed.

if it's actually a mkv file, no, then not.

I read in a lot of websites that md5 & sha1 shouldn't be used to encrypt passwords. What should I use instead ?

I have a CRT, friend.

How would I go about doing something like DLNA with my TV? Is there some sort of box I can purchase that'd hook up to my component cables or something, or is that suggestion based on modern TV capabilities as well?

Whoops, glossed over the ethernet part. No, my TV does not have an ethernet port.
