What is the most alpha profression?

Basically what allows you to make a lot of money and still have time to lift and take care of yourself? There are several professions where you can make a lot of money, sure, but you're basically working 80 hour weeks and barely have time to get home.
>>
Start reading economics 101.

So do you want a job that pays a lot in exchange to so little? If such thing existed dont you think you wouldnt be the first one to take this job?
>>
I work as a tradesman, 40 hours a week decent money more if I want, get to spend time with my family in a nice home go abroad twice a year and take the children jet biking at week ends.
>>
unless you inherit a company or something I don't see how that is possible.

you can have time and money in any profession if you manage your finances right

Become a doctor.

No seriously. The hours suck the early years but when you become a specialist the income VASTLY outnumber the ammount of hours you work.
>>
>>37676875

Lmfao no. If you're thinking of getting into medicine for the money... hoooly shit stop yourself now and think looooong and hard before continuing on.

Software engineering

Recruiters come to you, you don't have to do much if you're good and pick the right company

Can work remotely and travel the world. Pretty alpha.
>>

I want to be a medical examiner, and this is horrible advice.

Do not become a doctor just to make money.
>>
>>37676893

It aint that bad there is lake near me within half hour drive the bike I brought for 4k from a friend and petrol ain't really expensive.
I was just pointing out that there is more to life than making mad dosh that you can live a decent life and raise healthy children on a normal wage.
>>
>>37676761

Actor/musician/athlete are pretty much the only ones that fulfill that criteria.

Or you can also invent something or make a really popular website or game.

That's about all I can think of. I'm from a family of doctors, lawyers, and businessowners, and I wouldn't want to trade places with any of them.

>put "carpenter" as my profession on tindr, get lots of one night stands. They all wanna stick around once they see my textbooks but I never call them back.
>>
>>37676761
Hard to say, things like cop or fireman are pretty alpha but don't pay well and make you exhausted while things like hedge fun manager are pretty beat but pay really well.
I would imagine what Akon did would be a pretty good definition of alpha. He was a rapper who decided to invest in African infrastructure and just recently supplied 100 million Africans with electricity.
So it's not how you get money but how you use it.

I'm a nurse. Just graduated. I'll make 45k my first year and that doens't include the evening shifts and holidays I'll have to work. A lot of my day is spent on my feet and I often dont' have the energy to lift afterwards.

I'm gonna apply to medical school in a few years because fuck this. It's easier at this point to to that than to go for a masters in nursing. I'd pick nurse anesthesia if I'd do that. Pays a lot more and the stuff you do is more advanced.
>>
>>37677047
Where are you a nurse? Can you take ochem I and II, biochem, gen bio I and II, gen chem I and II, english classes at night school?

IF you're a nurse in the US you should get your NP before going to med school just based on the financial side of it, if you really wanna take that leading role in the clinic go to med school but moneywise you'll make more as an NP
>>
>>37676930
If you think athletes/musicians/actors live like that... Well, maybe athletes since they have to stay in shape for their job. But as a professional musician, I can verify that it doesn't really fulfill that criteria either.
>>
>>37677114
Norway.

I'll need to get calculus and physics + chemistry. Nothing I can't ace now. I just struggled with it in HS.

Thing is, I'll most likely have to study abroad because it's damn near impossible to get in here. There are way too many applicants and only like four universities that offer medical school, which leads to the average points needed to get in completely ridiculous. IF I want to study here, I'll have to spend close to 13000 dollars to get those courses. I can apply for a scholarship sure, but I'll be in full employment so that's not likely to get accepted.
>>

>>
you want it to be.

I'm >>37676919 and I have a profound passion for the forensic sciences combined with the desire to be a physician since childhood. Thus, being a medical examiner works for me.

Pros: 9-5 (usually, unless disaster, high case load), low fraud insurance, low malpractice insurance, don't have to deal with annoying patients, don't have to leave any kind of important event (think graduations, dance recitals, baseball games, whatever) to go do surgery on an idiot who almost got himself killed.

Cons: the smell, always a municipal position (thus lower pay), profaned as the more autistic medical specialty, lose touch of whats acceptable normie conversation, don't get to make side money shilling for pharm companies.

I could go on. It all really depends on your specialty, really. If you want to be a pediatric neurosurgeon and you're the only board certified surgeon in 60 miles of a kid who just cracked his skull open, guess who has to rush to the hospital? Not ME, not the family doctor, you.
>>
>>37677192

Thanks.

Let me summarize, if you're interested. Otherwise disregard this post.

In this country you apply to college based on your GPA from high school. As you get older and maybe complete higher education or serve in the millitary you can add points to your "competition score" (up to a point). Your competiton score is a mix of your "school points" (HS GPA) plus additional points like mentioned before. We operate on a grade scale from 1 to 6 where 1 is failure and 6 is the best. A GPA of 6 is the best you can get and this times 10 is your initial school points. So 60.

Medical education in this country requires at least 66,5 in points to get into if you're not coming straight from HS. I finished HS with a score of 38, btw. Now that I've completed my bachelors and grown older I currently have 48 points, still a far way off. I can however pay to take HS courses over again and improve my grades which is what I intend to do.

the problem with stock broker jobs/wall street jobs is that the market isn't like what it was, its alot harder to make money. people saw the wolf of wall street and think its easy, but you can lose a shit ton of money if you dont produce. if nobody buys your stock, you're fucked.

you have to be a good salesman.

40 hr/week, flexible schedule (I can go in at whatever time I want, go out whenever I want, have lunch for 2 hours, maybe take a snack for an hour, go out and grab some pizza or w/e) as long as I render 8 hours.
I usually get in at 8 or 9 AM and hit the gym at 4 or 5 PM because that's when qties are usually there, then come back to work and pretend I'm working.

Social anthropologist with posgrad studies, have been out of job for seven months now. I thought this career would take me places and see the world.
>>
>>37677348

Yeah it has it's pros and cons. It's technically free so if I'd live at home with my parents I wouldn't have to take up any loans, but almost everyone moves out so they have to. It would be a major financial investment for me if I were to do it and that's only before I've gotten in. That's why it's tempting to study abroad where it's much easier to get accepted. Over 50% of norwegian medical students study abroad in Europe. I'd study in Australia or America if I could but it would be a real pain in the ass (if not impossible) to get authorized in Norway afterwards.
>>
>>37677433

I should also note that seeing as I've worked with doctors for three years now and know what it means, I still can't see myself doing anything else really. I definitely want this career.

I'm a software engineer fresh out of college making 105k base, and ~70k in end of year bonus (min of 50, max of ~90, largely dependent on company performance).

Although I am salaried at 40hr/week the company does not track time and it is common for people to show up around noon and start their day.

Modern tech companies are super lax and have a ton of benefits including subsidized gym membership and a company gym on location (whole building, power racks included, not a shitty hotel gym).

Theres also free food (not just catered but actually ~10 different locations to choose from) which is perfect for maintaining a consistent and healthy diet.

I'd argue working in tech is GOAT for gainz.

I'm more on the systems end so I work in C/C++, but the languages you know don't matter for getting hired. It's not hard to learn a new language on the job so they hire for raw talent instead.

Interviews consist of theoretical algorithmic problems that usually involve mockups and not actual programming. If you pursue CS you'll see what I mean. Even just entering college you can get internships at these new tech companies and experience all the benefits for 3 months at a time.

Dermatology and orthopedic surgery.
I'm interested in the aforementioned as well as neurology. The orthopedic surgeon I shadow has two days dedicated to surgery and sees patients on other days for 10 hours and 6 hours, respectively, for 5 days a week.
The dermatologist I shadow doesn't do shit; he sees a patient for probably 5 minutes and then leaves. He works 8 hours a day 5 days a week.

Next up are people who own businesses but do not play a role in the daily operations. I'm in private equity, I don't make shit ($36K/year), but my boss is in the office once a week, drives a ferrari, audi and benz, and spends his time out on his boat, in the gym, or with his family.

I'm a professional lottery winner.

I make millions of dollars while doing nothing difficult. All I do is pick winners then have sex with my 8 mistresses. After, I swim in a pool filled with gold coins and finally go for a drive in my rocket car.

It works for me, but I'm not so sure you can handle it.

Time and money don't mix well. Top CEO's work 70+ hour weeks, even if they don't have to. But men who enjoy their job, are responsible and have a purpose just work a lot, that's "alpha", not sipping martinis and hanging out at the beach all day, it get's boring.

What I would concider alpha professions:

-CEO
-Doctor
-Scientist
-Judge

-Military Officer/Special Forces

Become a carpenter brah.
Learn how to build a house from scratch. Timber framing is relatively easy and will absolutely make a man out of you.
Travel and work in beautiful countries.
Once you've acquired enough knowledge and experience, have people work for you.
Start your own business.
Make bank.
Don't get married.
Build your own house eventually and live a peaceful life next to a lake in the middle of nowhere with a home gym. Blast music as loud as you want and masturbate with the curtains open.

I'm a doctor, I'm 29, I did a PhD after my MD. I'm from central Europe. There is an increasing shortage of doctors all over Europe, which has led to massive improvements in work conditions and in pay, also the EU in 2002 decided to limit doctors' average weekly working hours to a max of 38, a law that is being implemented right now and will be without the current bypass reglementation next year.

I lift too much and study too little, although I have neither girlfriend nor friends. As for the hours, some of the senior doctors are actually rather work aversive, but still at their age (35+) most have already taken serious damage to their private life, particularly the female ones often have not started a family while they could still bear kids.

So yeah perhaps it's delayed gratification, but keep in mind that at 45 your capacity for fun is diminished for several reasons. There are lots of aging people that have somehow had a really narrow worldview for a really long time, coupled with constant exposure to depressing patients that don't get well and become more demanding all the time. It's a job that changes your personality, not always in a good way, my colleagues are some of the most unempathetic humans I have ever witnessed.

tl;dr Being a doctor is not the best profession if you want to enjoy life, status, and lifting.

Selling drugs really isn't that glamorous, usually see the same faces a lot. A tire iron to the head vs. working over time. Also, money is very dirty. If you're at a college campus shit can get pretty real, otherwise you have to be a supplier and network to some small time guys. My friends older brother did that and probably saw some shit.
