Lift heavier, if the bar doesn't come up as far you sure as shit get down fast.

I'm only 1.5 months in myself but the above is the case for me, if I know I can power the weight I drop so slow. If I know I'm not getting that bar anywhere above my midriff I drop faster.

You have the flexibility, but not the mobility. Just because you can work yourself into the position doesn't mean you can get into it quickly and easily.

On the other hand, it could just be psychological. Train only the full variations, and treat lifts caught high as misses.

I play piano and want to know if hook grip will affect my hands or playing ability.

It's not about the pain, I didn't mention that once in my post. I'm simply asking if anyone here has had experience with hook grip affecting technical skills such as playing an instrument.

I guess that was a mistake though since 95% of you don't do anything but lift and dread getting up in the morning for your $12.50/hr wagecuck jobs, and even with that hardly any of you have half-decent numbers or noteworthy meet finishes.

Use Texas method or something for squats. Do volume on the first two sessions, and then cut volume and raise intensity on the last session. Its basically the most simple template there is.

Alot of noobs get this portion wrong and they'll end up missing lifts before they even really begin. No, don't do deadlifts at all. They just slow down your learning progression, since its a different kind of a pull from the floor.

Pulls are important for a novice, since you can stop at the crucial parts of the lift (below knees, power position..) and it gives you strength for those positions

Let's rephrase it as a snatch pull without getting on toes

It's for technique, the first pull is the most important thing for a beginner to learn.

We're arguing the same point here, I'm just saying that with classic pulls the novice often only is concerned with getting up on toes... They should start worrying about the pull to and past the knee first. Hence why a snatch deadlift (NOT a snatch grip deadlift) is useful

It's all about the drive generated by your lowerbody extension. Your arms are merely hooks. If you try to use your arms to pull, you'll actually lose power (think about pulling a a car with a tight rope vs an elastic rope) and likely make the bar path worse.

First off, see pic related. And this is a power clean, which means the bar has to go up higher. You'll see there's no rowing of the bar involved. It goes up from the drive generated by the extension of your hips, knees, and ankles.

Secondly, we're talking about the competition lifts, not drills. And unless you're talking about muscle clean/snatch, you'll see you're not taught to use your arms for the drills, but to merely let them go up to a certain height.

Would this framework be suitable for an outdoor platform? It's going to be 8x8, and I'm going to use use double-stacked plywood for the base, with rubber mats and another piece of plywood for the lifting surface.

I'm going to add extra cross braces to study it up, but I'm worried the constant dropping of heavy weight might fuck up the framework.

The only guy I know who made his own platform did it with solid wood, literally 4x2 laminated with ply on top

He said he did it for exactly the reason why you are worried about yours, because if you've only got a couple of 4'' nails in the end of each joist then that's the point of failure.

There's got to be timber connectors in your country like joist hangers, you are bound to have a better time if you reinforce with them

4x4 is inferior to something like 8x2 here, your main structural concern is supporting vertical forces. I'd shy away from screws unless they are literally huge because they are liable to just shear themselves off. You'll probably be best served with something like a Z or L beam support.

That's if you want it to be permanent, if you can accept it dying then maybe the cost of construction becomes too much and it's better to just nail it up
