Yes, although when I train friends I have them do stronglifts.
It's just a preference but I think rows are easier to teach and become proficient at than powercleans.
Also stronglifts has a good app.
But they are both good programs and they both will do what you need them to do.
Honestly even if you do stronglifts, I still recommend reading the SS book, because it does a great job of explaining the basic methodology of linear progression and the lifts.

SS is probably the greatest l reference for learning how to perfect your form, but it's a terrible lifting program.

Biggest problem with SS is an over-emphasis on quad muscle movements, and an under-emphasis on lat muscle movements.

It is a good routine, but don't expect to come off it looking like a bodybuilder. In fact, don't expect any routine to make you into a bodybuilder when you're just starting.

Do SS until you plateau really hard (many months), do a cut, and try to make gains again. Then go on to the Texas Method. Build lots of strength with this until you reach advanced level. Then go to a PPL routine with lots of volume to build mass. All in all, that's 2-3 years of hard work. During this whole time, never let yourself get to more than 15-17% body fat. When you reach 15% start cutting and go down to 10% before you start a bulk again.

There. I just planned your lifting career for you.

A program like that assumes the trainee will have longevity, who cares if you are a little underdeveloped in some areas after 6 months, you can fix that in the long run. But having perfected your form will carry over for the rest of your lifting career.
Anyway I know you maybe weren't making that argument, I just figured id bring that up because a lot of people who criticize these novice strength programs, say shit like "well if you do a split youll look better after 6 months", well no shit but 6 months is nothing.
