Watch the professionals, and compare how different their form is to yours. You're trying to "cheat" the lift by making it hamstring dominant. Keep the bar closer to your body, keep your torso more vertical, and make it a quadriceps dominant movement. Keep your weight on your heels from the get go rather than starting on the ball of your foot and rocking backward, then consciously and actively push your hips forward with your glutes. You're doing the motion in a manner similar to a hamstring dominant deadlift when it should be far more similar to a quadriceps dominant front squat. On the first two attempts, you started with a torso angle of around 20 degrees or less, and the bar appears to be at your knee or maybe even slightly above it. The pros will have their torsos at no less than 30 degrees by the time the bar reaches their knees, with some of them at 60 degrees or more. What is more sore after you do oly lifts, your quads or your hamstrings? It should 100% be your quads. Your final attempt was better, but it's a bad sign that your form is varying that much when you're trying to lift pretty substantial weight. I would also say that your back is too arched. Rounding your back is definitely very bad, but over arching isn't much better. Do you get crunchy vertebrae joints after a snatch session? If so, you're doing something wrong.

Morning gents. Knees are recovering from injuries, so I've been limited to power cleans and power snatches the past two months. Hit a power snatch pr of 210 ameripoons today. Hopefully when knees are recovered it will translate to a big pr as all time best full snatch is only 240#.

I plan on doing a 7 days a week workout to get back into it where I alternate between heavy upper-body day - light leg day and heavy leg day - light upper body to actually squat every day. Too much arm before extension. Pull should be all legs, then arms.

You're a pretty bigguy4me. so you get away with it now, but you will quickly find a ceiling, and a fairly low one at that. I have a feeling you could pull significantly more weight if you concentrated on using your legs more. Have someone who knows what they're looking for watch you lift, and to yell and smack you on the head when they see you bend your arms too soon. The watcher must be bigger than you for this to work properly. If there is a sub-current of potential sexual violence behind this, even better. Negative reinforcement is a powerful motivator.

It was put to me as a middle ground where you can make PRs etc but in the lighters weeks also work on technique too

My.biggest issue is catching low in the snatch. I power everything especially when it gets heavier. So frustrating as i powered my pr and I know if have way better numbers if I sort it out

Ok let me tell you right now you need to STOP doing powers. They will only reinforce bad technique (i.e. Not willing to catch it as low as possible). Powers should be done for explosiveness, and training max power output. That's not what you need.

Once you're comfortable doing a full snatch properly, THEN you can do powers.

I have a friend that catches it high and rides it down. When weight gets heavier, he eventually fails. This is because as the weight gets heavier, he cannot get the bar to a height he is comfortable getting under - because he's acclimated his body to only getting under when it's high enough to power.

A huge part of successful technique is being able to get under the bar even when it's not high "enough." but that's the point: it IS high "enough," it's just gonna be really low.

If you're doing it subconsciously, do drop snatches (Without dipping, so youre literally just dropping.)

Do hangs from a very high position.

So, ok, deadlift the bar. Stand up straight with it. Then, do a small dip with the knees, keeping your back vertical. Just like a jerk, but a very shallow dip. From that position, explode into a full bottom position clean. That will force you to immediately get under the bar bc you won't be able to get much height.

Guys. Yesterday before my squat sesh I felt a weird tingling in my calf. I hadn't been to gym 3 days prior. I went ahead and front squatted anyway. Immediately after the pain spread to my knee, and upper right side of my hamstring and quad. I couldn't walk very well for 2 days.

Now there is just a dull soreness in my knee, and I can't squat down even bodyweight without pain.

What the fuck happened? Any experience with this?

when you are that height/weight your levers are better for pulling than squatting. obviously they squat a ton, but compared to a lower weight class it is more beneficial to bias the training more towards pulling

Well by the looks of your numbers your technique isnt the limiter... If it was you could make big leaps as it gets better. It looks like what you really need to do is get stronger. Squat and pull alot I guess. It looks to me like basically a question of how strong you can get before then.

Hi guys, I want to get Weightlifting shoes, but i have very large feet. My current shoe size is 11.5 length, 6E wide. What can you reccomend?

I hear romaleos are larger, but I still think they're probably too narrow for my feet.

Should I get a custom made shoe if those exist?
