I'm 6'2". The funny thing is, I don't really notice that anyone is particularly short. The only ones that spring to mind are women who are short and super-soft talkers, and short, really stocky guys who clearly try to hard to compensate for their perceived lack of height.
One of my best friends is something like 5'5", but I always thought he was like 5'10" because he speaks clearly and is confident. Also, last year he married a cool, very funny, pretty woman who is about 1" taller than him.
But what's really funny are the times I see some guy coming and think, "holy shit, he's a giant!" Then he gets close and I realize we're the same height, or he's maybe and inch shorter...
