>brings his own Barbell to the gym
>locks it to the stand with a bike chain

https://youtu.be/5t4B20kJb6o
>>
His reasoning is sound though.

It's a Texas Deadlift Bar and retards like you would only use it for Squats and Bench and fuck it/themselves up.
>>
As much as I hate that chewning faggot I agree with his actions
>>
wow great Idea I'm going to my gym soon and bringing a bunch of bike locks, and I'll lock up all the barbells.
>>
>>35045862
>not bringing your own equipment to the gym
Not gonna make it.
>>
We have a deadlift bar at my gym that is kept in a storage closet that only serious people know about.

The owner of it actually started screaming at some dumb asian girl when she tried to squat with it.
>>
>>35045862
he seems like hes constantly out of breath
>needs more cardio
>>
I'm one of the retards that would use it for something other than dl.

Is it really just longer than a standard barbell?
>>
>>35045891
Never heard of special deadlift bars. What is going to happen if you use it for squats or benchs?
>>
>>35046082
It's longer but it's also thinner meaning it's easier to grip and bends, raising the start of the lift. You don't want to squat or bench with it because it'll bend.
>>
>>35045862
stop shilling here you fucking faggot
>>
>>35046175
Because it's harder to re-rack the bar when it's bending?
>>
>>35046175
I don't get this. Why would you want to decrease the ROM? I watched some Russian mental case dead lift 700 or something and he was just lightly tapping the outer plates. When I DL, I go completely down. Is it just for ego lifting?
>>
>>35046190
Oh sorry, I meant that last bend as in permanently bent.
>>
That's his gf bro don't be a dick
>>
>>35046244

why would it bend when squatting/benching but not deadlifting? unless the short time you have it in the air isn't long enough to bend it
>>
>>35045862
What the fuck is the point of this video besides triggering me
>>
>>35046290
You reset after every rep on deads, at least you're supposed to, but bench and squats keep tension on the bar the whole set.
>>
>>35045862
>12 minute video

Fuck off
>>
>>35046290
The bar bends while deadlifting, too. The bend is good because it helps you get the bar off the floor.
>>
>>35046228
>Ego lifting
>Sport designed completely around doing the most weight possible

Is football just ego ball throwing and running? They decrease the ROM to increase the weight, simple, just like not squatting deeper then necessary.

>>35046290
It wouldn't, the bar flexes enough that is unsafe to bench and squat with because it's unsteady and increases the chance you'll lose the lift, injure yourself, plates slip off etc etc.

There is no reason you can't use a texas deadlift bar to do other things, it's just designed in a way that almost anything besides deadlifting with it makes the lift harder, and if I bought the bar I wouldn't want someone misusing it on the off chance they injure themselves and get an idea to sue whoever put that "unsafe" bar there.

Personally I think a texas deadlift bar would be great for olympic lifting, they like more bar whip right? Only drawback would be that the collars being further apart would make stabilization more difficult.

>>35046082
Longer, thinner, different material, more aggressive knurling. It's different in almost every way a barbell can be from a traditional gym bar and even more so then a "power" bar.
>>
>>35046175
So it's a cheaty bar, eh?
>>
>>35046410
Absolutely, if you consider that cheating, all shades of grey. Is knurling on the bar cheating?
>>
>>35046335

Unless you want to get strong like Richard Hawthorne or George Leeman.
>>
>>35045862
I hate Max Fagning. His deadlift is ok though
>>
>>35046419

It isn't, I use a bar made out of rubber, and let me tell you my lifts have improved
>>
>>35046405
Oh so he's a faggot powerlifter? I get it now. I don't have mental issues, so when I lift I want it to have impact on my strength/aesthetics, not just fluff my PR
>>
>>35046489
Woah man take off all that edge. Believe it or not different people can do different things and it actually doesn't effect you at all.
>>
>>35046228
>Why would you want to decrease the ROM?
Do you know anything about lifting weights?
This is something you should be able to logically deduce with literally no knowledge of moving weights.
>>
>>35046489
There are multiple different bars with slight differences
Bench, squat, deadlift and Olympic bars are all slightly different and there is nothing wrong with using the correct bar for the correct lift.
>>
>>35046553
I mean besides cheating. If I want to set a marathon PR I'm not going to cheat myself by doing it on a treadmill. It doesn't count and is only to massage my tiny self-worth / dick
>>
>>35045862
how is that bike lock going to stop the barbell from being stolen? He might as well just drawn a circle around the thing to ward of criminals.
>>
>>35046147
this
Who gives a fuck? It's a metal bar.
>>
>>35046147
>>35046616
3 seconds in Google says that it's longer and thinner, which means that it bends more.
>>
>>35046629
they are asking what that bend is going to do you dipshit.
>>
>>35046594
I'm trying to think of an effective way to convey this.

Is rotating collars cheating? It makes it easier because you don't have to hold the weight solid or adjust to it's momentum.

Is knurling on the bar cheating? It makes the bar easier to hold onto and reduces the importance of grip strength.

Are shoes cheating? They make balance and ankle mobility easier.

Wrist wraps, knee sleeves, chalk, caffeince, smelling salts, pump up music.

All these are things that enhance performance and are not necessary but not even on the spectrum of "cheating".

So why in your eyes is this such an egregious thing?
>>
>>35046645
You can pull your body into a better position to lift the weight without lifting the weight off the ground
>>
>>35046594
To follow up in summation. We're not fucking apes, tools are what separate us from animals. if you wanna go live in the forest and deadlift fallen trees because "proving myself" then by all means do so, literally no one will ever give a shit about this opinion.
>>
>>35046594
That's not a very good analogy.

The deadlift bar is allowed in some federations as a legitimate lift. It's like using roller blades in a marathon where the marathon organisers and governing federation permit it in the rules.
>>
>>35046594
How is the first month of SS going, dyel? Can you manage your 1plate diddylift?
>>
>>35046645
I think the more important point is that the bar is narrow so you can grip it better, the bar has deeper knurling so you can grip it better.
>>
>>35046682
A thing is not a good idea because some PL federation says it's permitted. It's a good idea if it improves results. This does not do that.
>>
>>35046645
The longer bar means the weight on the end is further from the fulcrum (your hands). This increases the moment arm created by the weight about the fulcrum. It also means there is a longer length of bar between the weights which makes it more likely to bend.

The longer moment arm from weight to hand is like using a longer spanner to tighten a bolt. It reduces the work done.

The longer bar between weights, and extra reduced stiffness of the bar, means that the bar bends more before coming off the ground. Also it means the weight doesn't all come off the ground at once; the weight closest to you comes up first and the weight furthest away will remain on the ground. This means you can come off the ground slightly before having lifted all the weight making the start of the pull easier.
>>
>>35046710
The bar allows you to lift more weight as well. Because of the reasons I outlined here:
>>35046746

If it allows you to lift more weight and is permitted by the rules of a competition in which lifting the most weight is the ONLY objective, why wouldn't you use one even in training?
>>
>>35046710
>It's a good idea if it improves results. This does not do that.

That's literally, exactly what it does, it's sole fucking purpose is that. Holy shit how do you get this stupid.
>>
>>35046648
The difference between what you've listed and a deadlift bar is that there is definitely a point where you could conceivably reduce the ROM to the point where it would be cheating. The amount of ROM reduction allowed is arbitrary, is 2 inches too much? What about 5 inches? On the other hand no amount of caffiene or shoes of smelling salts etc would be cheating.
>>
>>35046802
The reduction in ROM is a result of the bar's stiffness and the weight on it (and the grip width slightly). If everyone uses the same bar and the bar is made to specified standards then it is fair.
It isn't like some deadlift bars will give you 3inch reduced ROM and some will give you 5inch for the same weight. Because the length and bar stiffness are specific and defined as to what is permissible in competition.

>you could conceivably reduce the ROM to the point where it would be cheating
A lot of powerlifting is exploiting the rules for ROM reduction; bench arch and sumo deadlift. But as long as the lift adheres to the rules you can do anything to reduce the ROM by any amount. You can't arch too much in the bench and reduce too much ROM so long as your traps and glutes remain in contact with the bench (and heels on the floor in some feds.)

The goal of deadlifting isn't lifting more weight artificially. If it were, machinery would be allowed. The goal is to get stronger. Using training aids only slows the process down.

>>35048417
Do you have any idea how stupid you sound? I guess no one should ever use a belt, chalk, pwo, straps, or any other form of assistance again. Not even spotters.

The idiocy hurts, you're like the guy who does 2 plate squats and claims it's more impressive than the guy repping 5 plate because he had a belt on and you don't.
>>
>>35048417
I use the ez bar to deadlift anyone who doesn't is cheating :^)
>>
>>35048460
You fucking dunce. Would you say someone doing DL with the weight starting knee height was legit? (fuck, you're probably retarded enough to) A normal person would call bullshit. That's what's happening when the bar has excessive bending. The outer plates tap ground while the bar is still well above the bottom. You're skipping a quarter of the rep. Lie to yourself all you want. Someone pulling raw is significantly stronger than someone pulling with assistance
>>
>>35048493
Damn I just realised you are right. This bend is caused by the bar being a cheat bar. This is also definitely knee height.

Man I'm starting to pick up a real heavy wreak of "weak little bitch".

I don't use a deadlift bar but when I go to commercial gyms there is easily 4+ inches of flex in the bar for my top pulls. I'm a fucking cheater right man?

The bar doesn't magicly flew 6 inches with 2 plates on it but then also be good for 900+ lbs.
Fuck I don't even care anymore, I never should of cared so much to begin with.
