I'm doing some research on where fashion is going towards to, and as I've seen, it seems like most of the military garments are then used as trendy garments... i.e: trenchcoats, parkas, etc.
I do not have really solid arguments to discuss this so your opinions and pics would be really useful.

I think you're not really looking at what you're seeing. They all have military backgrounds about as obvious as the sun.
Hell, I believe the necktie has it's origins as a standard garb for warriors in France. I could be wrong. Point is, most everything classic in menswear has military roots.

That's true. Croat cavalry men serving in France used to wear a white scarf, which was adpoted at the court of France, and evolved to become the necktie.
The reasons are obviously, military garments are easy to produce, comfortable and very sturdy.
