Vintage Porsches are #1 for places where you can actually have some fun with the car.

In an urban context, with stop and go traffic and rough roads, Range Rovers and G-classes win.

You really don't want to try to roll around Manhattan in the winter in a vintage Porsche. SUVs are objectively better at comfortably navigating effay cities year-round. If you really can't deal with those trucks, then the Mercedes E and S classes, BKW 7 series and Porsche Panamera all look fantastic cruising or parked in a city.

Ricers and old German cars tend to make you look trashy

Of you're wearing a full Carol Christian poell fit but step out of a BMW 315i with a fart Canon and window tint and ///m stickers it will make you look like a fuck.

Anything that poorfags haven't fucked with is a good choice, Mercedes commander, Tesla model s, Bentley Continental

You can lease them for only about $500-650 a month and is solidily out of /o/ poorfag affordability

But very reasonable for a middle inckme wage earner in designer clothes

I mean I think /o/ should seriously consider the cash4clunkers program for most of the cars in it

The State of California’s “Cash for Clunkers” car buyback program called CAP (Consumer Assistance Program) is operated by the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). The State of California BAR program is available in all locations across California and the goal is to promote clean air by removing older vehicles that are currently operating in California.

Goal of the program
The goal of the BAR program is to provide a cash incentive to retire older polluting cars. The BAR program payout is a capped at $1,000 ($1,500 low income) and is an incentive based amount not based on the true market value of your car.

Look on yelp for a shop with recent, multiple positive reviews. Don't cheap out.

Also check your local laws, limo tint is illegal in a lot of states. They go by a percentage and most tint shops will be able to help you with that.

Super dark tint can make driving at night a pain especially on side windows.

Cleanly tinted windows on a black car that gets washed and detailed regularly looks great.

I like high quality gold wheels on black cars also

Riced out clone of a somewhat desirable rare option in the 80s
>>
>>11282488
It weights 3200lbs and makes maybe 110hp to the wheels

Minus 20% due to old rings, blow by and maybe a little more drivetrain loss than normal since its old as fuck.

It will give a Volkswagen beetle a run for its money

They also sound like those old Volkswagens too

It has the benefit of not having an engine block cast entirely of magnesium because you know magnesium is a great material to encase explosions in ....because it's not super flamable or anything and like magnesium doesn't flare at all with water casually poured on it when burning...

Yeah the Germans really "knew what they were doing" alright....spoiler they didn't

To the wheels, there is significant drivetrain loss and the ones that survived are suffering from massive amounts of blow by

Blow by is a serious issue in cars, why do you think I rebuilt my motor after every race season?

Nitrous fires were one reason but it was also to keep up on minimizing blowby

Which is why you have to get the lifetime replacement piston rings for $34.95 motherfucker

>>11280659
I like the new ones a lot, actually. My friend just got a new GT350 and it's a beast, and surprisingly nice inside too.

>>11280751

>>11281432
E39 M5s are nice, I've worked on a few. I've always wanted one.

>>11281740
It's not that terrible. The thing about BMWs of that era is that there are usually a few big checks you have to write once (i.e. with E46 M3s it's subframe reinforcement, VANOS, and rod bearings, about 4-5k total), and then the car is good for 100k+ more miles with nothing but oil changes and brake pads.

>>11282507
E30 M3s are great if they're done right, but very few are. I've worked on and driven a few great ones, though. They make more sense as track cars these days, you can excise a lot of the extra weight and the motors are happier with track conditions than street ones. My old shop takes care of one that's totally done up to Group A specs and it's badass.

Just because those people kill the scene doesn't mean you need to hate the cars, personally I think camber is retarded, also I can say dope when something truly is dope.

Promptly swallow a razor blade, anon.

Can you really be that surprised? The whole stance trend is based around using cars as fashion accessories. Of course people on /fa/ would like them.

My opinion on stance is that if you're slammed static, and/or have camber, stop. If you're on bags and only go low at shows, then that's fine. Otherwise lower the car about 1-2.5" from stock with 18" wheels, no staggering, and you're golden on "stance".

The thing I quickly realized about /o/ is that they were poverty stricken and drug addicted losers who used the "I am a car enthusiast" excuse to justify their lack of hygiene and money.

Like they would go to junkyards to buy a radiator hose that Costs maybe $50 new

And they would act like they beat the system.

And the faux upgrades, can't afford a new $20 air filter so they buy an air intake kit that they can wash from knn arguing it's more powaaaaaa

It's just a different justification on why they don't have rent this month in car form
That and it's super depressing.... The cars are all run down garbage in the Midwest with rust and they skip meals to maintain them

If you want to see the real effects of Obama's America and how poverty stricken America is spend an hour on /o/

I agree with most of this, but Obama's got nothing to do with it. I've been on /o/ since the board was started in late '04 or so, and it was even worse back then. I was a tripfag and was commonly cited as having the best car on /o/ in those days, and it was just an S14 240SX with 5k of mods into it.

Nowadays we actually have a decent number of people who own cars they bought brand new, reasonably interesting stuff like Ford STs and FR-Ss, and that would have been unheard of back in the early days.

I think the only effect Obama really had on /o/ was Cash for Clunkers, because back in the day there were a lot of posters with interesting and obscure '70s and '80s cars that don't exist anymore. (XR4Tis, Chevettes, etc.)

Sadly they're probably going to flop again, because Americans still think Italian cars are gigantic pieces of shit.

The Brera would have done horribly here too, because Americans have an illogical hatred of hatchbacks. Ford had to make a Fiesta sedan for the NA market and it outsells the hatchback by a pretty substantial margin here, despite being less practical and looking way more like a cheap hackjob POS than the hatch IMO. (Maybe I'm biased with that one because I own a Fiesta ST, though.)

Nowadays you can do it for $12k and cleaner than I did it too

I had to drill the frame for my motor mounts and cut away my floor pan to rtv my shifter box in, and the swap harnesses back then were $1500 alone hondata was $2000 etc

I remember paying $2200 for the first k20/k25 manifold.

Skunk 2 has one that was made in Taiwan for $195

You know fiats in America aren't Italian right? Has nothing to do with Fiat in Europe either

Why does every car automatically become better when you shove a Corvette motor in it?

Give it a try, I've had a 6'3" friend with a helmet on in my FiST, and mine is short on headroom compared to a non-sunroof model.

That's true about the 500, but I feel like some of its sales are because it's dirt cheap and nothing else on the market really competes with it. I dunno about the 4C, I live right in the middle of a nice part of LA and I've seen more Paganis than 4Cs.

I'd love to see the Giulia do well here, though, I think Alfas are really cool cars. Maybe the disappointment enthusiasts have had with the F80/82 will lead them to look elsewhere, and Alfa will be in the right place at the right time.

I get what you're saying but I think that's going a little far. They're still 90% identical to the Euro models, and the changes really aren't all that different from what any European model goes through for NA sale. Sure, it's built in NA, but to the people buying them they're Italian cars and Fiats.

And what do you mean "nothing to do with Fiat in Europe?" It was developed at Fiat, it's built by a Fiat-owned plant in Poland, it shares a platform with other Fiat models, it has a Fiat badge and is sold at Fiat dealers, etc. You might as well say the Polo has nothing to do with VW because it's built in Spain.

Only the NA models are built in Mexico, though. Fiat was building EU models in Europe before the Fiat/Chrysler merger, and the US models are essentially license-built versions with minor modifications for the US market.

Harder to do than m50 swap. Probably more expensive too if I did want to make it a bolt in swap too.
