Id love to know a good cologne for me(male) , something that lasts long, good smell and works for casual. I always end up with stuff thay dies out in an hour. Only two i have ever known to last is burberry brit and clubman aftershave.

femanon here, i usually wear l'eau de l'issey eau de parfum as my signature scent. It's light, feminine, and seems to convey a sort of sweet, refined oriental demureness.
I've been playing around with dior's poison, does /fa/ like the way it smells? I'm trying to find a scent that's more hardened in a beautifully egotistical sense (tipareth) but not coming off as overtly bitchy.

DESU, not really a fan. Sure, they have a few really good scents (New Haarlem, Scent of Peace for Him, Bleecker Street, Chez Bond) but for the most part I think they make very safe/derivative/borderline designer-tier fragrances and charge upper tier niche prices for them. Also, their entire aesthetic is built around exclusivity and a phony aristocratic New York lifestyle. Basically they're more concerned with their image than they are with actually making good fragrances. That said, this is just my opinion. Like I said, they do have a handful of really good scents and although their retail prices are ridiculous, some good deals can be found online--especially tester bottles

Trying to be a special snowflake about fragrances is never really that great an idea unless you're willing to fork out the dollars for it. That being said though there are a fuckton of scents out there and it's mostly just trying them out until you find something.
I have no idea how much most of these are in dollarydoos or if you'll even get these in the land down under. I've tried to recommend some vanilla scents, but tbf vanilla scents are more of a fall/winter scent for me than an all year round thing.
Le Couvent des Minimes Cologne of the Missions - Boozy vanilla scent, never really becomes this overly sweet vanilla that most vanilla scents seem to become nowadays. No idea how well this will work in warmer seasons because it reminded me quite a lot of European Christmas.
Naomi Goodsir Iris Cendre- Australian designer, I have Cuir from her and I love it. This not really vanilla but more of a musky floral.
Dior Addict - Sweet vanilla scent, I think most people use it as a night time scent rather than any sort of signature scent, but if you feel like you can pull it off as a signature then go wild.
Channel Gardenia - Floral smell, but, EDP has/had nice hints of vanilla to it. Oooold scent though, even though it's been reformulated quite a few times.
YSL Cinema - Used to be a very nice mixture of floral and vanilla. Not clue if it's been reformulated at all but worth a test.

I'd just like to thank these threads for existing, even though most of /fa/ advice is forever shit.
Got two sample packs from surrendertochance and it was real interesting. I hated a quarter, disliked half, but liked the remainder.
I took 1 ml vials, but honestly that's a lot to work with. If I bought again for the purposes of testing a scent I'd do the 0.5 ml vial.
I'm going to give the remaining samples I didn't like to friends to test.

Bleu has that sour incense drydown I don't like and I prefer the sweeter one on the allure flankers. I like the bleu grapefruit opening though.
The terre edt smells more balanced to me vs. the edp.

Love Prada Amber, just a really beautiful soapy & clean scent that just screams sophistication to me. Extremely versatile as well, anyone looking for a good signature scent that isn't afraid of something slightly feminine should give it a try.

Prada is an excellent house but I think they get passed over because there isn't a whole lot of variety, all of their scents go down the same soapy & clean path. The only one that really stands out as different to me is Prada Amber Intense but unfortunately it's been discontinued

far as I know, the EDP version is not available in North America – couldn't find it at their boutique in New York. Thankfully I have a bottle (from their Paris flagship no less).
I'd say try Amazon (got the EDT from there), but you're Canadian. Or ask a friend passing through Yuroland to pick a bottle up as a favor.

Well, neither Guerlain Homme Intense or Boss Bottled are 'Bergamot' scents. Its not a listed note at all in the Guerlain and Boss Bottled is a vanilla/apple/cinnamon dominant fragrance. That said, if you like bergamot then give these a try:

Dsquared2 Potion EDP immediately comes to mind. These are some others that I think would work although they don't exactly meet your criteria:

Black is fantastic: tea, leather, tobacco and some sweetness I can't identify. In the same vein as Bulgari Black and MiP.
White is very similar to LM. Neither are my favorites. And just plain old 360º for Men was not to my liking. Synthetic and IIRC, like snorting ground up SweeTARTS candy.

It's an excellent buy. Pretty difficult to describe the smell, the thing that comes to mind for me is dryer sheets, but I mostly get a creamy sandalwood base with some floral/sweet/metallic notes on top, kind of weird but actually a very pleasant and unique smell. Performance for me is excellent, lasts all day and projects pretty heavily. As for when to wear it, I find it extremely versatile, you can wear in any type of setting. I think it could get a little too cloying in the high heat due to the sweetness and how loudly it projects but it should be perfect for any other time. I personally use it most in the fall & winter. I like that its fresh & clean smelling but still works in the cold weather--those kind of fragrances are pretty hard to find. I've had my 75ml bottle for a little less than a year and used up half of it, I will definitely repurchase when I run out.
