So I'm in the market for buying some higher quality shoes, first time getting non mall tier shoes.

I want a pair of loafers (pic related), boots, brogues, black casual derbies, and a few other essentials.

What are the pros and cons of getting leather soles vs rubber soles?

I've never owned a pair of leather soles before.

If you leave on a rainy zone, buy rubber sole. If not, leather.

I wear leather soles for formal stuff and work in summer, the other shoes when it's winter because I don't want to fuck up my soles with gravel/chippings. Exceptions when it's something important or court, but then I'll take a taxi anyways.

Don't forget that you can just change your soles for new ones with decent shoes, it's not that expensive.

Oh, and this is a leater sole after 1-2km of walking on gravel road last week because I couldn't get out of it. So consider your choice of shoes carefully in the morning.

How much does it cost to resole something like a ferragamo shoe?

Considering all of my expensive shoes are all going to be dress shoes, it wouldn't make that much of a difference.

Depends on the sole and the guy who does it, I've seen 20€ to 50€ for dress shoes over the years.

I like the brand, but why would you buy a shoe in that price-range that's not custom-fitted (I don't know the English term, shoemaker-made)? It's the same for suits and shirts, anything over a certain price is just throwing away money for inferior product (looking at you, Zegna).
